GRIESE TO SERVE AS BUCS’ NO. 2 QB?:
With second-year quarterback Chris Simms set to make his first pro start against New Orleans, the question everyone seems to be asking is who will serve as his backup on Sunday?
“We’ll announce that on game day,” said Bucs head coach Jon Gruden, who said the team had already made a decision in regards to that same question.
Phil Williams, who serves as quarterback Brad Johnson’s agent, told PewterReport.com on Friday that he had gotten the impression from several conversations with his client this week that Johnson would be the team’s third-string signal caller against the Saints, but he stopped short of confirming such a decision.
Should Johnson serve as the Bucs’ emergency quarterback in New Orleans, Brian Griese will be Simms’ backup.
