BUCS HEAD COACH JON GRUDEN ON THE STATUS OF INJURED LB ANTOINE CASH “Antoine Cash does have a neck injury. He is moving around and the signs are good, but that’s a scary thing. We’re praying for him, obviously, but we do have good news that he is moving around.”
GRUDEN ON BUCS QB JEFF GARCIA'S PERFORMANCE “It was not trademark Jeff Garcia. I think we fumbled on the first third-and-1, and then we get the ball back and throw an interception on a naked [bootleg]. He’s trying to do way too much in that situation in my opinion. The interception in a tight red zone was a great play by one of the Jaguars defenders. I think he tried to do a little too much a little too soon. We’ve got to get him back on the practice field and we have to get him back in the fold in terms of reps and things of that nature. He’ll be okay.”
GRUDEN ON WHETHER GARCIA WAS RUSTY “It is rust, okay? Where have you been? He hasn’t practiced. He missed the first few days of training camp and missed about a month.”
BUCS QB JEFF GARCIA ON HIS PERFORMANCE VS. THE JAGUARS "I looked rusty, I felt. Obviously, not having played in the first two preseason games, having not practiced a lot, not that I expected it; I don't want those things to happen. I made some decisions that are not indiciative to how I play the game and I probably forced the issue a couple of times. It is something I can learn from and grow from, and I know that once I get more reps in practice, get more opportunities, I will feel that much better and more comfortable out there."
GARCIA ON HOW HE FEELS PHYSICALLY AFTER THE GAME "I am not 100 percent yet, but I felt like I was to the point where I could get out there and compete. I felt comfortable enough to move around in the pocket, to do what I had to do. I know I will just get healthier from here and I will be ready to go come season time."
GARICA ON TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH "I think so. It is a situation where you haven't played and you expect a lot out of yourself and you want to prove to your teammates, not that I have to prove anything, but you want to do something positive. I haven't had a lot of opportunities to practice with the team, and going out there I wanted to do some good things. I think I did push and I forced the issue a couple of times. Unfortunately I got burned for it, like I said before it is not indicative of how I play and it was probably good to get that out in the preseason."
GARCIA ON WHETHER HE WILL BE READY FOR NEW ORLEANS "Without a doubt. There were a few good drives that unfortunately one ended in an interception. We moved the ball a couple of times. We were finding receivers we were making plays it didn't finish off the way we always want it to. Having the three turnovers will kill you every time. Last year we weren't a team that did that, we weren't a team that turned the ball over. I feel like we will be that same team this year. I just need more practice that is all there is to really say about it. I've only practiced really one week. I just need more reps in practice and I'll get those."
BUCS CB RONDE BARBER ON HIS INTERCEPTION "We have done a good job the first couple of weeks at winning the turnover battle, but it is hard to do that when you start with three turnovers on our side of the ball. It came at a big time, it created a scoring opportunity for us, and we went down and scored. You have to take advantage of your opportunities. It was more of a gift than anything, but you will take them any time they come."
BUCS WR MAURICE STOVALL ON HIS PERFORMANCE "I think I played fairly well. You know, I think I did a pretty good job in the run game digging out safeties and being physical with the corners. The pass game, I had a few catches, but you know anytime you watch film, there are things that you could have done better. I may think that I did a pretty good job, but we will watch the film."
STOVALL ON THE OFFENSE'S FOUR TURNOVERS "I don't know what the excuse is for that. We're professionals and we can't start out like that, especially playing at home. We should come out faster. We have a mature offense and we've been together for a while, so there is nothing that we can't correct and we will definitely get it corrected and do better for the next game."
BUCS LB BARRETT RUUD ON GAINING MOMENTUM AFTER RONDE BARBER'S INTERCEPTION "They are a good team, too. I thought we did a good job battling back because we got into a 10-0 hole pretty quick. We did a good job of fighting back, we just came up a little short in the end."
BUCS WR MICHAEL CLAYTON ON HIS TOUCHDOWN RECEPTION "It was a play that we worked on all week. On a blitz, it was a quick release and Jeff [Garcia] stood in there and made a good throw."
BUCS STARTING RIGHT GUARD JEREMY ZUTTAH ON PLAYING AGAINST JACKSONVILLE'S BIG DEFENSIVE LINE "It was definitely a big challenge, but I was just trying to do my job no matter who was lined up over me. Obviously [John Henderson] is a very good player, but I was just focused on what I had to do."
ZUTTAH ON THE PERFORMANCE BY THE STARTING OFFENSE "We turned the ball over and we can't expect to start that way and then try to pull it out in the end. We have to start fast and make sure we eliminate the turnovers."
ZUTTAH ON WHETHER HE WAS NERVOUS OR NOT ABOUT MAKING HIS FIRST NFL START TONIGHT "I don't get nervous for games. It's just going to make you play worse. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen whether you are nervous or not. So why be nervous?"
BUCS DT CHRIS HOVAN ON HIS PRESSURE ON QB DAVID GARRARD'S INTERCEPTION TO BARBER "We were coming on a blitz, I had outside contain. I beat the offensive tackle and he still had the ball. That never really happens to me so I laid my hands on it and Ronde Barber got the interception. It was a great play by him and I am just glad I could help on the play."
