Bucs quarterback Brad Johnson on the offense’s performance against the Raiders:
“I thought we played pretty well in the first quarter. In the second quarter we got a little stagnant. In the third quarter the Raiders scored some points. We had the interception and we didn’t make some drives. We never gave up and fought hard in the fourth quarter to try and give ourselves a chance. We made some great drives, and maybe that’s something we can build off of. We got a lot of guys that got hurt tonight, and obviously we get (Michael) Pittman back next week. Right now we just have to lick our wounds and suck it up and play hard against Denver next week.”

Johnson on WR Tim Brown’s 100th career touchdown catch:
“It’s awesome for Tim. It was great for him to get a touchdown pass, especially here in Oakland. Fortunately I threw Chris Carter his 100th touchdown catch and it was great to be part of that and history. Unfortunately, that doesn’t do you any good.”

Johnson on what Tampa Bay can take away from its loss to Oakland:
“We never gave up. We fought hard and that’s what we have to stick to. We stuck together tonight. They just outplayed us.”

Bucs WR Tim Brown on catching his 100th career touchdown pass against his former team:
“It was good to get it done, especially out here. I would’ve loved to have it been the winning touchdown or something, but it’s still good to get it out of the way and I don’t have to worry about that anymore. I can just go out there and play football.”

Brown on what kind of reception he received from the Raiders fans:
“I’ve had such a great career here, so it would’ve been a real turn of events for them to boo me and all that kind of stuff. I wasn’t surprised at all that they cheered me and send me off the way they did. They know I’ll be back three or four years from now doing something here, so it’s good to have that kind of relationship with them.”

Brown on whether Tampa Bay can turn it around and make the playoffs after starting the season 0-3:
“From what I’ve seen since I’ve been around here and the work ethic that these guys have, I think we have more than enough to get it done. I think tonight was good on one hand — at least we got some offense going and moved the ball up and down the field. From here on out, people have written us off, so we might as well go out with our guns shooting.”

Bucs head coach Jon Gruden on his offense’s performance:
“We had some great opportunities in the first half. Warren Sapp made a great pursuit play tackling Charlie Garner. Bill Schroeder was top of everybody and they made a pursuit play there. The penalty on (Michael) Clayton really stimied three great opportunities. We hung in there and moved the ball all night. I thought Brad (Johnson) did a good job. It’s just unfortunate that these injuries have taken a great toll on us. We’ve lost Charlie Garner probably for the season and Rickey Dudley probably for the year early in this game. That’s made it very tough on us to have any kind of idea of who is coming and going these days.”

Gruden on TE Rickey Dudley’s hand injury:
“Midway through the first quarter he broke his hand and his return is doubtful. Dave Moore, our long snapper, was pressed into duty tonight. It’s just another case where the injuries have mounted on our football team, particularly on offense.”

Gruden on RB Charlie Garner’s knee injury :
“They say it’s his patella tendon, and that’s not a good sign. That’s most likely the entire season and it’s a long rehab to get that thing back. The hopes of having a lot of these guys together, Garner, Michael Pittman, (Joey) Galloway, Joe Jurevicius and Keenan (McCardell) is a long way off right now. Our guys did battle, and I’m proud of them for that. We’ve just got to hang in there.”

Gruden on Tampa Bay’s offense producing in the second half:
“They were rushing three guys on us early. We were using a lot of movement to try and neutralize the blitz. They rushed three guys, which frustrates any quarterback or receiver – dropping eight guys into coverage. They started blitzing later on and we picked some of those up and we made some big plays downfield. The “Bull” is the bull. You’ve got to really tip your hat. A lot of quarterbacks with four wide receivers, a running back and a tight end out, and all of the negatives that have happened, might have gone in the tank, but this guy is a stud and his legacy went way up in my mind tonight.”

Gruden on WR Bill Schroeder’s four-catch, 126-yard performance:
“He’s a guy that signed about two days before training camp and fought to make this football team. All of the sudden now he’s our big-play guy. It’s a credit to him. He’s had a great career. He came in here and learned three positions — returning punts and kickoffs. I tip my hat to a lot of these guys. I know we’re 0-3, and you can put the blame on me. These guys are busting their butts and giving it all they have, and that’s a classic case of what Bill Schroeder did tonight.”

Gruden on Tampa Bay’s 0-3 start to the 2004 season:
“The future of the Buccaneers is going to be bright. We have to repair some areas to our football team, that’s obvious. We’re going to do that. I promise you that. In the meantime, we’re going to compete our butts off and try to get back in the playoff picture. I promise you this, the future is going to be extremely loud and bright here. We have to prove that, but I know we will.”

Gruden on the reception WR Tim Brown received when he caught his 100th career touchdown:
“It was great you, great for me and great for the fans here who supported him for 16 years. We had him open another time down the middle, but I think we had a protection breakdown and Brad (Johnson) couldn’t hold it long enough. Tim still has some life in his legs and it was a great night for him in that way.”

Bucs linebacker Derrick Brooks on the 30-20 loss to the Raiders:
“We came up a little short. We had a great effort, but at the end of the day we ended up 0-3.”

Brooks on Oakland’s success via the ground game:
“They made some plays, but until I look at the film I won’t have an answer for you. I give them credit because they did hit some plays.”

Brooks on seeing the offense score two touchdowns:
“We need to find some positives in this game and I think we found some positives. We’re very critical of ourselves on tape, but we find some positives and build on them. The offense scoring a couple of times is something for us to build on.”
