The Bucs roster spot left empty by the waiving of Mike James yesterday was filled Thursday morning by fellow running back Peyton Barber.
Tampa Bay promoted the rookie out of Auburn from the practice squad and also brought back recently waived wide receiver Evan Spencer to replace Barber.
Barber (5-foot-11, 225-pounds) led all Buccaneers running backs in rushing yards (99) and carries (39), but only averaged 2.5 yards per attempt. He also caught seven passes out of the backfield for an additional 55 yards.
Spencer survived the final cut-down day last weekend but was let go when the team acquired veteran receiver Cecil Shorts.
Happy for both. Prefer Shorts over Spencer, but glad to have him back on the PS.
