With wide receiver Mark Jones (torn patellar tendon) out for the season and WR Michael Clayton’s ankle injury possibly sidelining him a while, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a pair of roster moves Tuesday.
The Bucs promoted practice squad WR Chad Lucas to the 53-man roster and signed WR Derrick Hamilton to their eight-man practice squad.
Lucas originally entered the NFL in 2004 as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans. After spending time in the Arena Football League and NFL Europe, Lucas, a former Alabama State standout, had two stints with Tampa Bay in 2006 as a member of its practice squad.
The 6-foot-1, 201-pound Lucas spent the 2007 offseason, training camp and preseason with the Bucs before being released in September. He signed to Tampa Bay’s practice squad and was promoted to the active roster on Sept. 26 and was released and re-signed to the practice squad one week later.
Hamilton (6-4, 203) originally entered the league in 2004 as a third-round draft pick with the San Francisco 49ers. He played collegiatley at Clemson. Hamilton spent part of the 2007 offseason with the Atlanta Falcons but was waived in June.
