LAST WEEK: The St. Louis scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime in Seattle, where the Seahawks eventually lost to the Rams, 33-27. Rams quarterback Marc Bulger completed 24-of-42 passes for 325 yards and tossed three touchdowns and three interceptions. St. Louis used Marshall Faulk and Steven Jackson to rush 24 times for 124 yards (5.2 avg.). However, its defense allowed Seattle RB Shaun Alexander to rush for 150 yards on 23 carries (6.5 avg.).
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers watched backup QB Brian Griese come off the bench and lead the Pewter Pirates to a 20-17 win over the New Orleans Saints last Sunday. Griese completed 84 percent of his passes for 194 yards and toss one touchdown, a 45-yard strike to TE Ken Dilger. Bucs CB Ronde Barber recovered a RB Deuce McAllister fumble and returned it 18 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, and CB Brian Kelly picked off Saints QB Aaron Brooks to stall a drive headed in to Bucs territory in the second half. Tampa Bay converted 50 percent of his third downs and produced 319 yards of total offense.
THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET: September 23, 2002: Tampa Bay and St. Louis clashed in the Raymond James Stadium in their last meeting and the Bucs beat the Rams in that Monday Night Football contest, 26-14.
