All five members of Tampa Bay’s 2005 starting offensive line will suit up in red and pewter uniforms again for the 2006 season.

That was made possible Wednesday when the Buccaneers re-signed restricted free agent guard Sean Mahan, who started all 16 regular season games for the Bucs last season.

Terms of Mahan’s deal were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-3, 301-pound Mahan originally entered the NFL as a 2003 fifth-round draft pick out of Notre Dame. He has since played in 41 games with 24 career starts, eight of which came at center in 2004 after starter John Wade suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Although he started every game at right guard last season, Mahan’s future likely is at center, and he could compete for a starting job there as early as this season, depending on whether the Bucs use a first-day pick to select a guard in the 2006 NFL Draft.
