The Buccaneers cleared a roster spot for tight end Jerramy Stevens by releasing TE Ben Troupe on Wednesday.

Stevens served a two-game suspension during the first two games of the 2008 regular season. He returned from suspension on Monday.

Troupe, a former second-round draft pick with the Tennessee Titans, signed with the Buccaneers during the offseason. The Bucs could afford to release Troupe with Stevens, Alex Smith and John Gilmore making up the tight end position in Tampa Bay.

In addition to releasing Troupe, the Bucs made two practice squad moves, releasing cornerback Brandon Sumrall and signing CB Kyle Arrington.
