The hometown Redskins only allowed the Bucs to complete 3 of 13 (23 percent) of their third down attempts while recording four sacks and one interception. Tampa Bay’s defense allowed Washington to rush for 166 yards on 40 carries, including RB Clinton Portis’ 64-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Bucs’ only touchdown of the game came in the third quarter when cornerback Ronde Barber recovered a fumble and returned it nine yards to the end zone for the score.

Tampa Bay visited Seattle and escaped with a 16-3 win over the hometown Seahawks. The Bucs went on to play in the NFC Championship Game that year.
