The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Monday that they have placed defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (knee), wide receiver Louis Murphy (ankle) and tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (back) on Injured Reserve. The team has promoted wide receiver Tavarres King, tight end Evan Rodriguez and defensive tackle George Uko from the practice squad to the active roster.

King (6-1, 210), who has spent the past seven weeks on the Buccaneers’ practice squad, originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (161st overall) of the Denver Broncos in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent time with Denver and the Carolina Panthers in 2013 and was with Carolina for this past offseason and preseason before joining Jacksonville’s active roster where he was inactive for five games prior to being waived. King played collegiately at Georgia.

Rodriguez (6-2, 239), who signed with Tampa Bay’s practice squad on November 25, originally entered the league as a fourth-round draft selection (111th overall) by the Chicago Bears in 2012. After spending the 2012 season with the Bears, Rodriguez played for Buffalo in 2013 and spent this offseason and preseason with the Bills. In his three-year career, the Temple product has played in 19 games with five starts, catching four passes for 21 yards

Uko (6-3, 284) originally entered the league this season as a college free agent with the New Orleans Saints. Uko, who played collegiately at USC, spent the 2014 offseason and preseason with New Orleans, before being waived on August 26. Uko has spent time on the Buccaneers practice squad throughout the 2014 season.

The team also announced they have signed wide receiver Chandler Jones to the practice squad.

Jones (5-9, 185) originally entered the league as a college free agent this past offseason with the Cleveland Browns, before being waived on August 4. Jones, who played collegiately at San Jose State, has spent time on the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad this season. Jones will wear No. 85 for Tampa Bay.

Interesting choices to be promoted from the Practice Squad. Given the positions we lost and the poor O-line play, I thought we might see Masifilo and one of the offensive linemen brought up.
