Five down, five to go.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to say that Friday after they signed seventh-round draft pick, offensive tackle Chris Denman, to his rookie contract.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound Denman played collegiately at Fresno State. Denman caught the eye of Bucs head coach Jon Gruden, who gave him the nickname of “The Mortician” during organized team activities.

Tampa Bay has now signed half of its 2007 NFL Draft class.

However, five of the team’s draft picks remain unsigned, including first-round pick Gaines Adams, second-round selections Arron Sears and Sabby Piscitelli, third-round pick Quincy Black and seventh-round pick Kenneth Darby.

The Bucs hope to have those players signed to their rookie deals before they report to Celebration Hotel for the start of training camp on July 26.
