With most of the free agent offensive linemen’s visits out of the way, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers apparently are targeting free agent wide receivers.

PewterReport.com is reporting that the Bucs will visit with free agent WRs Kevin Johnson (Detroit) and Marc Boerigter (Kansas City) at One Buccaneer Place on Friday.

Johnson, 29, has started 79 of the 101 games he’s played in since entering the NFL in 1999 as a second-round pick out of Syracuse. He has hauled in 389 passes for 4,595 yards (12.0 avg.) and 25 touchdowns during his seven-year career.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Johnson spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns, but has spent the past three seasons with Jacksonville, Baltimore and Detroit, respectively.

Last season, Johnson played in six games, catching 17 passes for 133 yards and no touchdowns for the Lions.

Boerigter, 27, has played in 41 games (two starts) with Kansas City since entering the league in 2002. He has caught 39 career passes for 697 yards (17.9 avg.) and eight touchdowns, and 12 of his receptions were for 20-plus yards.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound receiver has only played in 10 games over the past two seasons due to injuries.

Tampa Bay also has scheduled a visit with Denver free agent linebacker Patrick Chukwurah (6-1, 250). The 27-year-old linebacker will fly to Tampa next Tuesday and will meet with the Bucs on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Bucs continue to negotiate with Tom Mills, who is the agent for New England free agent tackle Tom Ashworth.

“We’re still in negotiations,” Mills told PewterReport.com on Thursday evening. “We’ve exchanged some more proposals. [Tampa Bay general manager] Bruce [Allen] actually sent me a new proposal today. We haven’t reached an agreement. We’re just trying to come up with something that works for Tom and the Bucs.”

The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are also interested in signing Ashworth.

In addition to Ashworth, Tampa Bay has already visited with free agent tackles Brad Hopkins (Tennessee), Jason Fabini (New York Jets) and Mike Pearson (Jacksonville).
