The Tampa Bay Buccaneers used their final two draft picks (245th and 246th overall), both of which were seventh-round compensatory selections, to draft Virginia cornerback Marcus Hamilton and Alabama running back Kenneth Darby, respectively.

Hamilton (5-11, 188) earned All-ACC honors as a senior by recording 39 tackles and five interceptions.

He finished his collegiate career with 183 tackles and 15 interceptions. Hamilton, who has some return ability and is considered a solid special teams contributor, is a better zone corner and has quick feet and agility.

However, he doesn’t possess great speed (4.55 40-yard dash) and needs to be more aggressive at the next level.

Darby started 31 of the 47 games he played in during his collegiate career. He rushed for 3,324 yards (4.7 avg.) and scored 11 touchdowns via the ground game. Daby became only the third player in Alabama history to rush for over 3,000 yards during his college career.

The 5-foot-10, 208-pound Darby is a reliable blocker and pass catcher, evidenced by his 70 career receptions for 340 yards and two touchdowns.

However, Darby lacks ideal speed. He ran a 4.8 40-yard dash time at the Combine. In addition, Darby also bench pressed 225 pound 19 times and had a 30-inch vertical jump.

Darby earned All-SEC second-team honors by NFL Draft Report in his senior season after rushing for 835 yards (4.0 avg.) and scoring no touchdowns.

The 2007 NFL Draft has officially concluded. Tampa Bay used seven of its 10 2007 NFL Draft picks on defensive players.

The Bucs will now focus on signing undrafted free agents and preparing to introduce first-round pick, defensive end Gaines Adams, in a press conference that will be held at One Buc Place on Monday morning.
