He’s only played three games in the National Football League, but Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Carnell “Cadillac” Williams has already set foot inside the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

On Thursday, Williams had the cleats and gloves he sported during his record-breaking performance vs. the Green Bay Packers last Sunday placed on display in Canton, OH.

“It’s a great honor,” said Williams. “I never thought this could possibly happen. It’s a great feeling, but it’s still early. This is a long season and it doesn’t stop here. I know as a player I can’t get complacent, and I know that without those guys up front that this wouldn’t be possible at all.”

The fifth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Williams broke an NFL record previously held by former Baltimore Colts RB Alan Ameche (410 yards – 1955) by rushing for 434 yards in his first three NFL games. He also became the first player in league history to produce three straight 100-yard rushing efforts in his first three contests.

Williams broke both of those records by carrying the ball 37 times for 158 yards en route to Tampa Bay’s 17-16 win over Green Bay. On Thursday, that single-game performance vs. the Packers earned Williams the Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award, his third in as many weeks.

And with Williams breaking records and running away with all three Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week awards in September, it probably wasn’t a big surprise to learn that the former Auburn Tiger was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month as well on Thursday.

That award marks the fourth time in franchise history that a Bucs player has been named the Offensive Rookie of the Month. Previous winners included quarterback Shaun King (1999), RB Warrick Dunn (1997 and fullback Mike Alstott (1996).
