The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were quite busy this week, but their routine changed drastically on Thursday.

After holding two organized team activities on Tuesday and Wednesday at One Buccaneer Place, the Bucs held another OTA on Thursday from 10:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m., but this one was held at Raymond James Stadium. It marked the first time this year that the Bucs practiced at Ray-Jay.

Shortly after that two-hour voluntary workout ended, the Bucs boarded buses, which took them from One Buc Place over to the AMC Westshore in Tampa for an advance screening of The Longest Yard.

“That fires me up, to see our players together,” Bucs head coach Jon Gruden said. “We enjoyed the movie, had some laughs; now it’s time to get back to work.

“We’ve been working hard. We’ve got a lot of new players, young players, and we’re merging those guys with our veteran guys. A lot of these guys are starting to fit in here, and we’re becoming a football team, which is what we have to do this time of year. Training camp is right around the corner.”

The Longest Yard is a new version of the 1974 classic, and stars Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Burt Reynolds.

Last year, Gruden designed several plays for the movie, and three of them came to fruition in the final version of the film.

“They were better executed than is my experience,” Gruden said jokingly. “Some of it was relatively close [to real football] and some of it was kind of hard to believe, but that’s why it’s the movies.”

The Longest Yard opens nationwide on May 27.
