pewterreportcc: The PewterReport.com Chat Session for June 24th will begin in at 9:00p.m. sbf: sup cc sbf: CC – First question of the day from sunday – Is kevin carter a lock because he took less money here? how badly would he have to be beaten out? is his leadership what keeps him here, not so much his skill? sbf: just a heads up.. ill brb pewterreportcc: Hey everybody, let the chat begin. sbf: CC – First question of the day from sunday – Is kevin carter a lock because he took less money here? how badly would he have to be beaten out? is his leadership what keeps him here, not so much his skill? kybucfan: Ready to go! sbf: CC – another question form the other day – what does charles bennett have to do to make the team che: Out of Black, Hayward, and Hays, which is most likely to get snaps at Mike? che: *hayes pewterreportcc: SBF- Good to chat with you. Kevin Carter is in a good position to make the team. He is solid against the run, is a leader and has a track record. The coaches are comfortable with him. He stands a good shot to make the team. kybucfan: CC – what how has D. Brooks looked so far athletically? Better/worse or same from last year? jc510: How is Bryant looking? sbf: CC my power may go out here.. lightning storm… sbf: hail too cbgb: how safe is Nece's job ? sbf: or har rain drops sbf: hard* pewterreportcc: Che- I don't think of those three will be the back up mike, but Black was at Mike some last training camp, but has been at sam since then. Hayward and Hayes are both at will linebacker. pewterreportcc: SBF- Charles Bennett needs a monster preseason to make the team. Something like 4 sacks, he has to pull a Greg White and show a major pass rush ability. guest: CC – How has the defensive line players taken to new DL coach Wash? sbf: CC – can you give us a break down of the LB's… like which ones are getting reps at which position.. WLB-MLB-SLB? pewterreportcc: cbgb- Ryan Nece is in a tough fight to stay on the team. che: CC, is there a player on the roster who the fans might assume to be a lock to make the team that actually might be in danger? talib 25: I want Hayward to make the team. pewterreportcc: Guest- Todd Wash seems to have caught on well with the d-lineman. He is good teacher of technique and is a motivator. I think he will be this year's Gus Bradley. sbf: CC – i know #2 is open competition for WR.. but in your mind.. as of rightn now… who has the best shot to be the # 2. cbgb: CC – Doug Williams was quoted as liking Bryant. Is he back from the looks of things guest: What are the chances the team actually signs oft-injured RB Kevin Jones? and if I am not reading too much into does that been the team is thinking about shutting down Williams for the first half of the season? talib 25: Are the Bucs really interested in signing another RB like Kevin Jones or are they just giving him a look? pewterreportcc: SBF- Hayes and Hayward are at will, Black and Nece are at Sam. McCoy and Lehman are getting reps at middle. che: Do the Bucs think that Greg Peterson can make the team as a flex, or are they asking him to compete exclusively with Dre Moore? sbf: CC – In your mind, who has the better chance of making the team. and if its hayes… is hayward practice squad elgible? pewterreportcc: Talib 25- Haven't heard of any substance to the Kevin Jones rumor. I don't see how he would fit on the roster right now. jc510: How is Matt Bryant looking? cbgb: CC – Doug Williams was quoted as liking Bryant. Is he back from the looks of things talib 25: I don't think Hayward is PS eligible since he spent a year on the team's active roster. cbgb: Could he start ? pewterreportcc: Che- I think Greg Peterson has a good shot to make the team. He is playing both end and tackle, where Moore is just at d-tackle. 1vabucsfan: CC Do you think they Bucs will add anymore Wrs' before camp or are they pleased with whats being shown by the current group? guest: CC- I think Jones fits if Boyd's injury doesnt heal in time for camp and the team is not happy with the progress of Darby, not to mention if they have already decide to place Williams on the PUP list che: Do you think it will be Carter and Douglas (or) Carter or Douglas? pewterreportcc: cbgb- Bryant has flashed some speed on some deep routes in the OTAs and mini-camp, but he hasn't gotten the offense down yet. guest: What's up w/ Simms? Was he fined? He seems like he is getting bad advice because he is not helping his cause. Shouldn't he be out there impressing everyone w/ his skills and convincing everyone he should be traded? pewterreportcc: cbgb- Bryant is in the mix at receiver and could make the team. sbf: CC – obviously zuttah wont start this season.. but he has great measurable and kinda was a tight end in college… do you see JG using zuttah as a TE on goaline situations. and maybe even catching some passes this year? guest: What's up w/ Jerramy Stevens. Everyone was in an uproar. Has that died down? How did the Bucs react to that uproar? How are they reacting now, if at all? guest: If I am not mistaken Simms received a fine of 8,000 per day for OTA's and can be hit with up to 14,000 per practice during training camp pewterreportcc: 1vabucsfan- I wouldn't put it past the Bucs to bring in another receiver before camp. It will be interesting to see who gets cut as team's trim their rosters down to 80. talib 25: Bruce Allen didn't say if he would fine Simms or not, but I think he probably fined him. cbgb: CC – Questionabout Dre Moore. Monte said they'll use him as a "power 3" UT. Is that exclusive to passing downs, running downs or neither ? dbucfan: Charlie – do you really think there is a chance Byrant doesn't make it? talib 25: dbucfan – Who else would you rather have at kicker? pewterreportcc: guest- The Stevens uproar has seemed to die down. The Bucs players were oblivious to it, and the organization understood it but felt that he earned another contract while being a good teammate, staying out of trouble, and producing on the field. dbucfan: I suspect Allen has NOT fined Simms as of yet. We would have heard the whining guest: Talib 25 Think he means Antiono talib 25: jk :D talib 25: I know 1vabucsfan: CC Who would you say has the inside track to the #2 QB spot and do you think we still keep 4 TES'? dbucfan: Good guess guest… che: Who has a better chance at making the final roster, Hamilton or Cox? pewterreportcc: dbucfan- Yes I think there is a chance Bryant does not make the team. There is a lot of competition at receiver and special teams will be considered at the final spots as well. sbf: CC – In your mind, who has the better chance of making the team. and if its hayes… is hayward practice squad elgible? dbucfan: How is the roster shaping up for Buenning's continued employment? guest: It seemed like to me that the uproar over Stevens was louder the sencond time around. guest: Hayward is not PS eligble sbf: dave and his buenning talib 25: ? sbf: dbucfan we talked about this sunday.. a davis is looking like the odd man out pewterreportcc: SBF- I think that Hayward because he has had a year in the system and has proven to play well on special teams. Hayes is practice squad eligible. jc510: CC- What are the Bucs going to do with all this cap room? Are they talking with any guys like Ruud, Joseph or Trueblood about long term extensions? dbucfan: CC – Bryant has done something only two other bucc receivers have accomplished – and that is play the wr postions in the NFL – I will have to see the rest step up to that level. sbf: CC – i know #2 is open competition for WR.. but in your mind.. as of rightn now… who has the best shot to be the # 2. cbgb: If Hayward dressed for I beieve 9 games last season, he's not eligible for the PS. dbucfan: SBF – I am sorry I missed the get together – 4bucs said CC answered all his quesitons – and CC – I truly believed that was impossible… talib 25: I would say either Clayton or Stovall for #2 and Ike Hilliard in the slot. pewterreportcc: dbucfan- Dan Buenning has had a good offseason. He should be in a good position to make the team as the backup center. sbf: you shoulda seen 4bucs.. it was lamost 4 and he says "well… im cant believe it… but im all out of questions." it was pretty funny dbucfan: Thanks CC – I have been trying to root this guy back on the field. He is a fine player. talib 25: dbucfan – CC did a great job of answering all of our questions. pewterreportcc: dbucfan- It wasn't easy but I had a great group of Bucs fans like Chev, Talib 25, SBF, and Caradoc to help cover all the bases. 1vabucsfan: CC Who would you say has the inside track to the #2 QB spot and do you think we still keep 4 TES'? sbf: CC – obviously zuttah wont start this season.. but he has great measurable and kinda was a tight end in college… do you see JG using zuttah as a TE on goaline situations. and maybe even catching some passes this year? dbucfan: I talked to him today SBF – clearly charlie deserves an award. LOL guest: CC-How would you say Rcih is handling double duties thus far as being both the RB coach and Special teams coach? sbf: hahahahahaa jc510: Which veterans? pewterreportcc: jc510- The Bucs will signing their remaining rookies and trying to do extensions with veterans. They won't have any problem getting to the minimum, in fact I think they are already there. cbgb: CC – Question about Dre Moore. Monte said they'll use him as a "power 3" UT. Is that exclusive to passing downs, running downs or neither ? sbf: CC – i know #2 is open competition for WR.. but in your mind.. as of rightn now… who has the best shot to be the # 2. dbucfan: Charlie – the starting DTs – who are they and what should we expect from them? che: CC- Who, right now, would you consider to be the 4th CB? pewterreportcc: cbgb- Good question- I think the power three technique is more about Moore's style of play. He won't be the fast three technique of Sapp. Moore would more likely go through the o-line then by the o-line. talib 25: Will there be any surprise cuts before TC? Sorry if this has already been answered. guest: Is there any concern that Clayton is playing well for his contract year? 1vabucsfan: CC Who would you say has the inside track to the #2 QB spot and do you think we still keep 4 TES'? dbucfan: I am concerned that Clayton is going all out just for a contract year… if that matters guest LOL sbf: CC – obviously zuttah wont start this season.. but he has great measurable and kinda was a tight end in college… do you see JG using zuttah as a TE on goaline situations. and maybe even catching some passes this year? pewterreportcc: cbgb- The starting d-tackles are Haye and Hovan. They combined for almost 200 tackles last season. Their jobs are safe. They are both good teammates as well. jc510: CC- I'm not worried about getting to the minimum cap, I'm worried about all these very good young players who are about to become FAs at pretty much the same time. What is their plan to keep them all? talib 25: Any chance we still pick up Rod Coleman to add to our d-line rotation? dbucfan: I was hoping to hear someone was pushing past those two CC – need more size to get more push (almost spelled it Moore.) pewterreportcc: guest- I don't think there is too much concern about Clayton in the contract year. With his weight being back to his rookie level that can make a big difference. Also if he shows he can do it again, then you have two seasons of the guy proving his ability to excel on the NFL level. cbgb: It does CC as he was projected as a NT in a 3-4 or 4-3, which is why I was surprised he'll be at UT. Word is he's a better pass rusher than run stuffer tho…..have you seen or heard that ? sbf: CC – i know #2 is open competition for WR.. but in your mind.. as of rightn now… who has the best shot to be the # 2. 1vabucsfan: CC Who would you say has the inside track to the #2 QB spot ? dbucfan: If he is a disruptor then UT would be his spot cbdb – and it would benefit the team… pewterreportcc: talib 25- Yes, I think there is a chance for Rod Coleman to sign with the Bucs but at this point it may take an injury. Also it is not clear if Coleman is 100 percent healthy yet. che: Assuming Barber, Buchanon, and Talib are the top 3 CBs, who has been most impressive in fighting for the 4th CB spot? dbucfan: CC – is the competition open at QB – or is it set? Sorry SBF – I heard you guys spent time on this one… antcam: Sammy Davis sbf: 1va bucs… we talked about this sunday.. i believe the answer was something like this im not sure though… if garcia goes down.. griese will finish the game… but luke will start the next game most likely. or something… or maybe im making stuff up… but i think it was like how we did with gradkowski in the redskins game. and luke started the next game. pewterreportcc: sbf- That is a big question for the '08 Bucs to figure out. In my mind, I'd say Clayton at 2 with Hilliard at 3. 1vabucsfan: Thanks SBF dbucfan: sbf – i hated that rotation last time… LOL sbf: im glad gradkowski didnt lose us that game. jc510: Griese would have. sbf: he messed up just enough to win antcam: He tried his best 1vabucsfan: CC Would you say Hankton stands as good of a chance as Bryant at making the team? pewterreportcc: cbgb- I remember back in the draft lead up hearing that Moore was better against the pass than the run. He had good sacks and tackles for a loss. His tackle total was okay, so I think that may be a fair assessment. Right now he is still learning the Bucs system and I think he need some time. He also got a late start in football and didn't come on in the college scene until his senior season. sbf: CC – obviously zuttah wont start this season.. but he has great measurable and kinda was a tight end in college… do you see JG using zuttah as a TE on goaline situations. and maybe even catching some passes this year? dbucfan: cc – expectations for the Oline – from a productivity standpoint – with all that has been invested in the Oline – are they ready to break out and become a dominating line – what do the coaches and players expect? dbucfan: zuttah at TE – that would make one very large Oline… pewterreportcc: SBF- Yeah I could see the Bucs getting creative with Zuttah in the goal line package. He could fill the tight end role that Sapp played. Zuttah is very versatile and a great athlete. I should also mention he's very intelligent and that is why they are comfortable with playing him all over the place as a rookie. sbf: haha… i mean like for our big goalin pachage.. how we used sapp.. why not zuttah? he can catch and he has good speed. and he can block. they wont know whats coming. 1vabucsfan: CC Would you say Hankton stands as good of a chance as Bryant at making the team? dbucfan: CC – PR guys can't tell us much about plays or formations bc of NFL rules – so generally – rbs are running more receiving opportunities and are WRs moving further down the field with their patterns? talib 25: 1vabucsfan – We talked about a little about this at the get-together. Brian Griese will be the #2 QB so if Jeff Garcia gets hurt, he could come into the game and manage it. If Garcia is injured for more than a week, then Luke McCown will get the starts. pewterreportcc: dbucfan- Yes I think the Bucs o-line is going to be the best o-line that Bucs fans have seen in quite some time. It could really make the offense dangerous. che: Is 5 WRs realistic with 4 QBs and (presumably) 4 TEs dbucfan: Do you get that same impression from the players and coaches CC? kybucfan: Any word on how L. Petitigout is coming along? guest: how interested are the bucs in kevin jones and are they taking a look a travis henry aswell jc510: With all the draft picks and money they pumped into it, it should be the best line in franchise history. The real question is will it be one the top lines in the league! pewterreportcc: dbucfan- It is hard to tell if they have changed the wide receivers routes much this offseason because last year's main two receivers, Galloway and Hilliard, have taken limited reps. They don't need them at this point and that let's the Bucs get a look at some of the younger guys. sbf: CC – when do you think pewter report will hold a get together at TC… presumably in the morning… now that the schedules out… will SR have anything for PR subscribers? a big ole get together and watch some practice hang with you guys a bit.. and for hate.. some adult beverages…. dbucfan: One has to hope the other DTs – Moore, Sims even Peterson push Hovan and Haye – cuz the buccs need it – or perhaps Coleman… pewterreportcc: kybucfan- Luke Petitgout is coming along well and should be ready for camp. He has been working hard at One Buc from what I've seen and heard. dbucfan: sbf – Cheve is doing the get together at camp – if that is what you are referencing. We will see if we can do one more luncheon prior… guest: when gruden said they would look at possible bringing in one or two new wr's to camp who do you think they are looking at? talib 25: That would be great if we could get in another luncheon prior to camp. che: If we could look into the future and see that a defensive end not named Gaines Adamns had 10 sacks, who would you guess that player would be? pewterreportcc: SBF- The training camp get together should be announced soon. I'm sure SR, JF, and myself will have some good inside info to share with you guys. It should be a lot of fun, as it always is when the PR family gets together. talib 25: che – Greg White maybe? dbucfan: How is Dexter Jackson coming along? Read the reports – but what about his hands – his moves – can you add anything to the reports? kybucfan: CC – thx. Also, if the Buc's put Cadillac on the PUP before training camp….does that mean he won't be able to practice "with" the team and will have to do sideline work? sbf: thanks DB.. i knew about that… im not gonna be able to make it up there before TC. and i will try my hardest to go to TC with you guys at least once. im moving to fort myers on the 1st…so its gonna be tough pewterreportcc: che- Other than Gaines the best guy to get 10 sacks this year would be Greg White. After him I would say Jimmy Wilkerson, he has flashed some real ability in the offsesaon. In KC he didn't get much of an opportunity playing behind Tamba Hali and Jared Allen. He's defeinitely one to keep an eye on. dbucfan: SBF if you keep moving south at this rate you are gonna need to learn a new language… look foward to seeing you at one or the other… sbf: hahaha pewterreportcc: kybucfan- Yes Cadillac will have to work on the side, but that doesn't mean he can't start doing running back drills, running patterns, cutting, etc. guest: what are the chances the bucs add an above average wideout before the season? dbucfan: Black is gonna step in and provide the rush – saw his picture and thought of the original LT… gotta get him on the field.. kybucfan: Gotcha – thx! che: I highly doubt Cadillac will play meaningful snaps this year. You don't throw a RB in cold in week 7. che: especially comming off a serious knee injury dbucfan: If Caddy gets on the field this year he (and the bucc's coaching staff) should have his head examined… sbf: CC – one for hate – do you think caddy will be able to block or catch this year… never mind that.. do you think he will stay healthy… o wait.. out till week 6… do you think he can stay healthy the last 11 weeks? pewterreportcc: dbucfan- Dexter Jackson looked much better at the end of the offseason program than when they first got him. He will have to improve as a receiver to get more snaps there during the season. che: even if the knee held up, something else would cause a problem… his body has no chance of being ready to take that kind of pounding. dbucfan: CC – I can just see Dexter and Galloway running crossing routes and skinny posts.. and creating space for whatever the coach wants to do… hope he gets it together talib 25: Thanks for the chat CC. dbucfan: CC – I gotta go – looking forward to meeting you – thanks for the time. pewterreportcc: Che and SBF- I think Cadillac will play this year, the Bucs organization seems very confident in that, and he has come along long way in the three months of the offseason training. As for his blocking and receiving, I don't know if that will be better, but coach Bisaccia has told me that they have been able to help his progress mentally in the meetings and tape. sbf: Thanks CC – great time as always guest: With the bucs showing interest in kevin jones do you believe thats more of an insurance policy for earnest graham or do you think the bucs would ever look to move him in a trade pewterreportcc: dbucfan- Looking forward to meeting you too. Thanks for joining the chat tonight. pewterreportcc: SBF- Thanks, great hanging out on Sunday. Hope to see you and everybody else at training camp. pewterreportcc: guest- I don't think the Bucs have any interest in trading Earnest Graham. He is productive and cheap, and I'm not sure other teams would give up a lot for a back approaching 30 and having only one season of good tape. pewterreportcc: Room- Thanks for the great questions. I have to get going. If I missed your questions don't hesitate to ask it on the insider board.
