Well I don't think he's taken us to the playoffs, I think he's been along for the ride.
lol
JC takes v REALITY
Scotty Miller was a under-appreciated star
2024 - 5/69 OTDs
OC Coen was actually incompetent
"The Buccaneers set single-season franchise records for completion percentage, passer rating, yards per rush, rushing first downs, rushing yards, and third-down conversion rate. The team finished in the top five in total yards per game, rushing yards per game, passing yards per game, and points scored per game."
Mayfield has just been along for the ride
Mayfield ignited the offense and spearheaded the Bucs' historic output. Mayfield completed 407 of 540 passes (71.4%) for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns in 2024, earning a passer rating of 106.8. For the second consecutive season, he established career highs in completions, completion percentage, passing yards and passing touchdowns, while also setting new career bests in passer rating (106.8) and net yards per pass attempt (7.9). Mayfield set new Buccaneers single-season franchise records in completion percentage and passer rating, while finishing second in touchdown passes during the 2024 campaign.
During his record-setting season, Mayfield became the fourth passer in NFL history to throw for 4,000-plus yards, 40-plus touchdowns, and record a 70% or higher completion rate, joining Drew Brees (2011), Joe Burrow (2024) and Aaron Rodgers (2020). Mayfield became one of 10 players in NFL history to ever throw for 4,500-plus yards and 40-plus touchdowns in a single season.
The former Heisman Trophy winner finished the 2024 season ranking among league leaders in completions (tied-2nd), passing touchdowns (tied-2nd), completion percentage (3rd), passing yards (3rd) and passer rating (4th). Since arriving in Tampa Bay in 2023, Mayfield has been among the league's elite, leading the NFL in passing touchdowns (69) and ranking second in passing yards (8,544)."
Tucker is Emmitt Smith
50/308 2 TDs
Its definitely the BORING offseason with people responding to that level of nonsense
i mean JC - not sure why a debate between Baker and Brady has to turn into Baker being worse than Kyle Trask and along for the ride. Can't all of the below be true?
1. Did Brady accomplish more than Baker did in his first 2 years with the team? Absolutely. Brady is our GOAT QB and in my top 10 (#11 on Pewters list); made us media sensations, won a Superbowl, changed the culture, etc. It's not even close and it doesnt take away from what Baker has accomplished.
2. Was Baker a key piece to the teams success post Brady and arguably a top 10 QB in this league heading into the 2025 season. Absolutely! Most expected the Bucs to suck post Brady and we actually have seen improvement from 2022, Brady's last year. Without Baker, this team likely reverts to what we were the decade pre Brady. You are severely underestimating his contributions because of your love affair with a back-up QB with 11 career pass attempts and whose choices in free agency were returning to the Bucs or retiring from NFL selling used car insurance.
Baker is a 2025 season away, from jumping up the ranks all time for the Bucs. He currently ranks 9th in passing yards and is 4,500 yards away from being in top 5. He ranks 7th in passing TDs and can jump to #3 spot with just 11 TDs. He is 39 TDs behind Brady for #2 spot.
to be frank, its pretty clear then barring a catastrophic injury, if Baker finishes out contract, will be our #1 QB all time in terms of yards, TDs, wins, etc. He is not in our top 20 all time yet in terms of all time Bucs greats, but he is looking like he will be there.

Excellent assessment on Bowles.
Kudos.

its amazing as i wanted Bowles gone after the 2022 season; but that was arguably his best performance where the defense actually carried us to the playoffs; think 7 out of our 8 wins, the offense scored 21 points or less
the offense has clearly carried the team 2024; there's no debating that. Offense was vastly improved in 2023 as well but there's a trend i clearly see:
offense getting better every year which has nothing to do with Bowles, while defense is either getting worse or marred in mediocrity
last year, i gave Todd benefit of doubt with lack of talent, but with 2 high picks in secondary and addition of Reddick; don't think i can defend Todd this year if defense is lack luster again
Extending Todd Bowles before this season is a head scratcher for sure.

We are with you on that but Bowles says he is tweaking his scheme to have them playing more m2m so we will see. It was crime to have an uber athletic secondary playing so much zone with the pressure packages going on up front. So many missed opportunities for picks and incompletions.
So, Baker’s a lot like Tucker in this context, no?You’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts - against the backdrop of Buccaneers QB’s he’s already put us into the playoffs more times than most of the QB’s in Buc history.Baker has shown he’s matured, and he has definitely improved the team. He’s a good QB, hope he can be a great one… but he’s already won more playoff games than the majority of Buccaneers QB’s - so he’s at least due consideration for a made up list that until recently has had a really low bar.Baker Mayfield in the top 20 buccaneers lol. I'm a baker Bro but let's see how the contract plays out...it's been 2 great years for sure
Kyle trask has got to be in the top 15!!!
Disagree about the consideration. He's played 2 years and it's not even close to Brady's 2020-2021. I think SR is the most level headed Bucs media guy but he's lost his mind with Baker, Jensen and Martin.
I’m not arguing that the list isn’t nauseating - but if we measure in passing yards, TD’s, and playoff wins, then the list narrows pretty dramatically.
Well I don't think he's taken us to the playoffs, I think he's been along for the ride. There was a guy on one of those ESPN panel shows saying the Bucs would be the best team in the league with Herbert and I agree. I appreciate his effort and play making, but leading the league in both intercepions and fumbles behind this OL is inexcusable. And the jet fumble was 100% his fault.
While I don’t share an animus for Bowles, I don’t disagree with this logic.Well I don't think he's taken us to the playoffs, I think he's been along for the ride

However, I just wonder what the win total everyone has in mind - or maybe an end-result - for what we think ownership may have as a basis for a decision?
After all, it is their team.
I’m sure we’re all hoping this is a worst case scenario.

I have no love affair with Trask. I said numerous times I’m neutral because we’ve never seen him play. Nobody knows what he is until he plays a couple meaningful games.
Credit to Licht he’s built an elite OL with really good skill players. What Bucs fans and media can’t wrap their heads around is that is what is driving the offense. While they shove the credit down Mayfield’s and Duval’s throat.
I’ve already been in quoted in this thread that I appreciate his effort and competitiveness, but the turnovers have to stop and he does leave points on the board. He doesn’t see things as fast or as clearly as other QBs.
I’ve interacted with many on this board, never heard anyone that didn’t have their head wrapped around the FACT that this o-line is the reason that our QB, WR’s & RB’s are successful.
It’s been the same since Brady.
Its the same in the entire NFL.
its what you do with your line that matters, and we have very good production m, as long as our starting unit is healthy, we can hang with anyone.
No one here argues that point. Great playcalling and good/great QB play, will determine how well each of the position groups do behind this line, and how far this team, goes this season.
Couple that to at least an NFL/average defense, and it’s the reason many of us have high expectations.
