After a year of unprecedented growth in web traffic and revenue, PewterReport.com has promoted two key members who helped make that growth happen. One of PewterReport.com’s main authors and Bucs beat writer, Mark Cook, has been promoted from Editor-In-Chief to Vice President of Editorial Content.
Cook presided over the website’s tremendous growth in web traffic in 2015 and continues to lead the PewterReport.com editorial team consisting of its writers, photographers and interns. Cook was hired as a Bucs beat writer in the summer of 2011 and was quickly promoted to the role of Editor-In-Chief during the Bucs training camp that year. Over the past five years, Cook has developed a multitude of contacts within the walls of One Buccaneer Place and throughout the NFL that helps drive PewterReport.com’s unique content.
PewterReport.com’s Vice President and Publisher Scott Reynolds stressed Cook’s value to the company.
Bucs NT Akeem Spence and PR.com’s Mark Cook
“I’ve known Mark for over two decades as he used to help me obtain post-game locker room quotes in the late 1990s for Buccaneer Magazine when he worked for WFNS Sports Radio 910 AM,” Reynolds said. “Mark has a passion for covering the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that dates back to the team’s first season in 1976. Because of that, I call him a ’76er, and his knowledge of the history of the team is a true asset to PewterReport.com.
“I’ve seen Mark’s growth in our industry over the past six years and how his hard work has contributed positively to our company. His promotion is well deserved. With the new editorial content we have on the horizon, Mark will help PewterReport.com reach new heights. I’m excited to promote Mark to the vice presidential level of our company along with Kim Roper and myself.”
Cook has already helped introduce a couple of new PewterReport.com features in 2016, including the PR Monday Mailbag, in which he answers questions submitted by Bucs fans to the @PewterReport account, and the new Pewter Pulse videos, which debuted on PewterReport.com last week.
Roper, who is in her 10th year with the company, was promoted to the role of Vice President of Business Operations and Marketing. She had previously held the title of Vice President of Business Operations for the past six years, and was the company’s Business Manager from 2006-10. Roper was hired by Reynolds and PewterReport.com after she graduated from the University of South Florida in just three years at the age of 21 to handle the subscriptions of the former Pewter Report magazine, in addition to the company’s accounting.
In addition to her role in accounting, helping to manage PewterReport.com’s website development, the company’s advertising partners and its luxury suite, Roper will help expand PewterReport.com’s brand and growth through external marketing efforts.
“Kim is the second-longest tenured employee at PewterReport.com and has been vital to our company’s success over the past decade,” Reynolds said. “She was a driving force in the design and implementation of our new website relaunch in September of 2014 and has helped our company grow in several areas behind the scenes. Kim’s loyalty, intelligence, work ethic and passion are tremendous assets to PewterReport.com and I’m very proud of her accomplishments. She is very deserving of this promotion and the expanded role and responsibilities that come with it.
“Kim’s vision for the future of PewterReport.com is an exciting one, and her new role in marketing our enterprise will help our growth for years to come. I’m looking forward to working with Kim in those marketing endeavors to help grow our brand, web traffic and revenue in 2016 and beyond.”
Reynolds is in his 22nd year with PewterReport.com and continues as the company’s Vice President and Publisher, presiding over the entire operation at Pewter Report Inc.
Congratulations MC and KR on the promotion! Also, congrats to PR for the growth in web traffic in 2015. Where’s my cut? 😉
Congrats to both! We are in good hands!
Congrats, Mark and Kim. I’m sure your promotions are well-deserved!
Scott, Just a thought with your new Pewter Pulse video offering. Perhaps you could introduce a staff member from time to time and let them relate their PR and Buc experiences. I’m sure others would like to meet them too!
Congratulations to both, but as I stated in Fridays post, a promotion without a raise is pretty meaningless so I hope there is more money involved for both people.
BTW, Pewter Report is far away the best source of news and opinion in regards to the Bucs.
I was a supporter of Lovie’s until PR’s Fab 5 came out calling for his firing if the Bucs didn’t beat the Jaguars.
I remember reading the opinion and the sound reasons for the opinion and had to agree with them grudgingly.
I also knew it took a set to voice the opinion since you guys have to deal with the Bucs and the staff on a daily basis.
To many other writers in the Bay area are either to chicken or afraid they are going to get their credentials ripped from them to ever throw a harpoon into a sitting coach.
Or probably they lack the intestinal fortitude to look a coach square in the eye after writing such an article.
Also, I don’t know if it’s possible or in your budget, but I would love to see you do some film work with either past or present Buc players.
What a kick it would be to see Mark Cotney or someone like him come in and go over a defensive set with you guys.
But please, whatever you do, don’t bring back Ivory Suly, Reidel Anthony or Michael “Clang” Calyton.
