After Demar Dotson went down with what first appeared to be to be a season-ending knee injury last month against the Vikings, many were surprised the following week when it was revealed that the injury was just a knee sprain and not the dreaded ACL ligament tear. And then even more encouraged when it was thought to be a 6-8 week injury which could have put him back on the field after the third regular season game.
But as first reported by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, and also confirmed by PewterReport.com, Demar Dotson is being placed on the Injured Reserve with designation to return list, meaning Dotson won’t be able to play again until Tampa Bay’s eighth game of the season.
Soon after Dotson’s injury was known, Tampa Bay went out and signed free agent right tackle Gosder Cherilus, formerly of the Colts. Cherilus is expected to start next week’s season opener when Tennessee comes to town to face Tampa Bay. While the Bucs were counting on Dotson to man the right side of the field in protecting rookie QB Jameis Winston, the addition of Cherilus could make Dotson expendable, depending on how the 31-year old vet fares against his opponents through the first two months of the season.

Oh I don’t expect Dotson expendable. He’ll be playing for us this season.
Dotson definitely is needed badly on this team !! I would love to get a sound bite from Winstons Agent about his feelings in regards to the O Line we have surrounded Winston with. ………. Pretty excited about the D if they can play a touch more aggressive !!
