Pewter Report debuted a new season-long weekend feature last week called Fifth Down, that will showcase some of the Bucs’ new players each week as the season goes along. This week’s featured player is Bucs rookie tight end/fullback Danny Vitale.
Vitale was a sixth round draft pick for the Bucs this season but was released during final cut downs. After signing with Buffalo briefly, Vitale was re-signed by the Buccaneers and placed on the practice squad earlier this month. Vitale was also the subject of this season’s Pewter Report Training Camp Diaries.
Mark Cook spent a few minutes with Vitale in the locker room this week to get to know his thoughts on things outside of football.
Q1. If you are sentenced on death row, and the warden asks you what your final meal is, what are you eating?
A. I am for sure choosing my Mom’s breaded pork tenderloins from home. That is for sure my favorite meal. And I am a big mushroom guy, so portabella mushrooms for sure and some broccoli cheese rice. Dessert, I am going with some sort of chocolate lava cake.
Q2. You are sitting around on a weekend with nothing to do and none of your friends will find out, what is your guilty pleasure television show?
A. New Girl. Pretty funny show. But definitely wouldn’t want my buddies to know that.
Q3. If you weren’t playing professional football, what profession would you be doing?
A. I always wanted to be firefighter for sure. It was always a dream job of mine growing up. I know a ton of people who were firefighters. One of my friends I grew up with, his Dad was the fire chief of one of the neighboring neighborhoods. So yes, a firefighter is what I would be.
Q4. If you could date anyone, who would be your biggest celebrity dream date?
A. I am going to have to go with Sophie Turner. The girl from Game of Thrones.
Q5. You are driving cross country and you can only listen to one artist, who is it going to be?
A. I would probably go with Lynyrd Skynyrd. I have always been a fan of the classic rock and country as well, I play guitar too, but I don’t know how a became such a big fan of “Simple Man” but that has kind of been my song. So definitely Skynyrd.

Skynyrd, excellent choice.
