Now that the 2005-06 season has officially come to an end, Pewter Report has decided to take an in-depth look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2006 home and away regular season opponents.

If the 11-5 Bucs are going to repeat as NFC South division champions they’ll certainly have to earn it as their 2006 regular season opponents fared quite well in 2005.

Home Opponents

Seattle 13-3 (Won the NFC West division title and appeared in Super Bowl XL).

Carolina 11-5 (Clinched playoff berth and went 6-2 on the road in 2005).

Cincinnati 11-5 (Won AFC North division title and made the playoffs).

Washington 10-6 (Advanced in playoffs by defeating Tampa Bay. Went 4-4 on the road in 2005).

Atlanta 8-8 (Swept by Tampa Bay and went just 2-4 in the NFC South division in 2005).

Baltimore 6-10 (Produced an 0-8 record on the road in 2005).

Philadelphia 6-10 (Went just 3-9 in the NFC and 2-6 on the road in 2005).

New Orleans 3-13 (Compiled a 2-6 road record and went 1-11 against the NFC last season).

Combined 2005 Opponents’ Record: 68-60 (Four of the eight teams made the playoffs in 2005)

Away Opponents

Pittsburgh 11-5 (Went 5-3 at home but won three straight road games in the playoffs en route to winning Super Bowl XL. Bucs have never beaten the Steelers on the road).

New York Giants 11-5 (Produced a 7-1 regular season record at home and won the NFC East division title in 2005).

Carolina 11-5 (Bucs snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Panthers with a 20-10 win in Carolina).

Chicago 11-5 (Compiled a 7-1 regular season record at home and won the NFC North division title in 2005).

Dallas 9-7 (Missed the playoffs despite producing a winning record. Went 5-3 at home last season).

Atlanta 8-8 (Went 4-4 on the road in 2005).

Cleveland 6-10 (Produced a 4-4 record at home in 2005).

New Orleans 3-13 (Went just 1-5 in the NFC South division last season).

Combined 2005 Opponents’ Record: 70-58 (Four of the eight teams made the playoffs, and three of the opponents won their respective divisions in 2005).
