For the second week in a row Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy went down with a first half injury to his right knee. Last week at Detroit, McCoy suffered what the Buccaneers said was a knee bruise, disputing a report from Pro Football Talk that claimed that McCoy suffered a dislocated kneecap.
In the first quarter against the Panthers on Sunday, McCoy’s right knee appeared to give during a pass rush, and McCoy was in obvious pain staying down on the turf for a considerable amount of time before walking off gingerly under his own power.
After the game Bucs head coach Lovie Smith talked about McCoy’s injury.
“Gerald McCoy hyperextended his knee,” Smith said. “It was the same knee but it’s not related [to last week’s injury at Detroit]. Totally different injury. We hung in there, but we’re different without him.
McCoy, who leads the Bucs with 8.5 sacks is just one away from tying a career high and the Bucs’ $98 million star appeared destined to hit the double-digit sack benchmark before the latest setback.

On a earlier post I said , if McCoy gets hurt again playing a meaningless game they should fire Lovie, well it happened. The worst decision of the year from a coach that don’t have a clue.
Really Lovie, a less than 50% passer gives us the best chance to win????? Stubborn!!!!!!
