Athletes and concepts aren’t getting worse. They’re getting better.
So the only reason that tackling and blocking fundamentals are struggling as they are is the CBA and the trickle down effect to college, high school, and youth football.
It wouldn’t surprise me (should things continue how they are) to see nearly exclusively Zone blocking schemes w/ move players (Trap concepts and Gap Jet Sweeps) maybe 5-6 years from now with OL about the frame of JPP.
But I’m actually expecting a reversion to leather helmets at some point and turning it away from the collision sport that it presently is.
