Fansided is not the premium NFL expert website, but they seem to have a clue about the Bucs. They have the Bucs trading down to 10 and picking Jawaan Taylor.
This mock also shows that after a QB run at 5,6 and 7, picks 8 and 9 will likely siphon away a couple of guys the Bucs could want. Ed Oliver and Jonah Williams went with those picks. Taylor seems to be all over the place in the various mock drafts, so I don’t know if he is the guy for the Bucs or not, but this is a logical way for the draft to play out.
By trading down, the Buccaneers pick up an extra resource and still get a guy they may have targeted with the fifth pick anyway. That seems like a winning proposition.
The Bucs have two needs that would make sense addressing given the players available in the top 10. One comes on the offensive line and one on the defensive line. On offense, they could use an offensive tackle to replace incumbent left tackle Donovan Smith who also happens to be a free agency. On defense, they could look to replace Gerald McCoy, who could be a cap casualty this year.
That said, picking an offensive lineman seems like the more likely option at the moment, and Florida’s Jawaan Taylor may end up being the best tackle prospect in this class.
