If they do pump in sound, seems to me it’d make sense to keep it even between the teams. That would remove any controversy from favoring one team over another and by how much. While home team crowds definitely make a difference for their teams, it would be hard to regulate with fairness if they gave the home team some sort of advantage.

Well that’s the thing. Do you want to keep it even? You are going to pump in crowd noise from down here in Tampa Bay just as much as up in New Orleans where the stadium is? Then you don’t have any home advantage.

Seattle is the loudest crowd followed by KC, Indy and then NO in one ranking. NO has reached 128 decibels where the threshold of pain is 140 decibels. How many decibels do you give the home team and how many do you give the away team? Of course, turnabout is fair play and when the Bucs come home they will get the same amount of homefield decibels. And what if your team is 1-5 and your fanbase is checked out? Doesn’t matter. Find 4 or 5 drunk fans at a bar and crank up the decibels!
