Runole, there is all kind of crap going around on the internet, because there is a whole machinery creating conspiracy theories for Trump to retweet. But hospitals don’t get paid more for positive tests. So conspiracy theory: False. Glad I could help.

As part of a federal stimulus bill, Medicare is paying hospitals 20% more than standard rates for COVID-19 patients.
Indications are that due to a lack of testing and other factors, the number of coronavirus cases has been undercounted, not padded.

(This is hospitalizations, not tests, because hospitals are losing money on elective surgeries.) 20% more is hardly a reason for hospitals to commit widespread fraud on the government.
