Also, regardless of hate crime vs not hate crime, when you kill eight people in one night, and only stop because you were caught, is there any real relevance to whether or not it’s a hate crime? I would think that facing eight Capital Murder charges probably carries a pretty rough sentence, do if you’re facing eight life sentences, (probably at the least), then where do you apply the added punishment associated with committing hate crimes?
If it was just aggravated assault, then yeah, adding in a hate crime penalty possibly packs on a heftier sentence.
Plus, it’s Georgia. That isn’t the bastion of civil liberties there. Say they give him a death sentence. If it’s a hate crime, do they kill him, revive him, and kill him again, for good measure?
The dude killed eight people in one night, most of whom were Asian. That’s really about all that needs to be said.
