Trask was only one of three QBs taken in the 60s though, so something changed in the minds of some. Maybe the value of having a game manager QB with a rookie contract on your depth chart is more important now. I don’t see that Trask is much of an upgrade over Gabbert, but they have Trask locked in. If Gabbert ended up the starter in 2022 they’d have to pay him a lot more. I don’t know. I’m just trying to make sense of it after the fact.
