The media may have a field day with this report COMBINED with Trump’s insane “total vindication” press release. Three reasons:
1) Trump appointee and report release immediately followed with Trumper releasers (ie part of the coordinated effort to rehabilitate Trump), AND
2) the typical “total exoneration” overreach by Trump, AND
3) no interviews of White House staff (apparently).
#2 and #3 are may be the focus BECAUSE this is the actual carefully-worded conclusion from the IG:
” Moreover, the evidence established that relevant USPP officials had made those decisions and had begun implementing the operational plan several hours before they knew of a potential Presidential visit to the park, which occurred later that day. As such, we determined that the evidence did not support a finding that the USPP cleared the park on June 1, 2020, so that then President Trump could enter the park.”
Will be interesting to see if this turns out to be a) the plan for fencing was already in place (pretty sure that was known because of the fire the day before) and b) they were told to change their timeline because of the President (“before they KNEW”)
fun to watch it play out
That last sentence – “we determined that the evidence did not support a finding that the USPP cleared the park on June 1, 2020, so that then President Trump could enter the park’ – may turn out that they cleared the park for fencing and Trump seized on that opportunity.
There’s zero dispute he went there for the Bible picture because you can hear him on tape talking about it.
We will see.
