http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football-player-newsBrandon Flowers - DB - Free AgentChiefs released CB Brandon Flowers.Flowers' performance and usefulness in Kansas City slipped dramatically under then-new DC Bob Sutton last season, as a press-man scheme was installed in the secondary and Flowers failed to find a fit. He wound up playing mostly slot corner, and was beaten relentlessly. The Chiefs were trying to trade Flowers, but found no takers for his contract. Flowers had some of the best years of his career under now-Texans DC Romeo Crennel, and cornerback depth is needed in Houston. We wouldn't be surprised to see them reunite. Flowers turned 28 in February.Related: Texans, ChiefsJun 13 - 3:04 PM Chris Houston - DB - Free AgentLions released CB Chris Houston.Houston is hardly an elite corner, but he's a seven-year starter who manned left corner in Detroit for each of the past four seasons, and was given a new five-year, $25 million deal last March. The Lions will move forward with Rashean Mathis, Darius Slay, and Bill Bentley likely occupying their top three cornerback jobs. Houston, 29, had the worst year of his career in 2013, and underwent offseason toe surgery. We suspect he'll get a shot in someone else's camp, but not before he gets healthy. Houston has been injury plagued several years running. Per OverTheCap.com, the Lions save $1.5 million in cash by cutting Houston, but lose $400,000 in cap space. $2 million of Houston's $3.5 million salary was guaranteed.Related: Lions

Flowers is a little short but I wouldn’t mind the Bucs giving him a shot.

Flowers was upset at being used in the slot while in KC so not sure that's such a great idea.

I dunno. The nickel in the T2 seems like it would be fun for CBs, blitzing off the edge and gettin sacks seems like it would be a blast for CBs.

Who cares.  Bucs don’t need another corner, in fact we may end up cutting someone who could probably play elsewhere.  Can either of these guys play Guard?

Which is all good except when you try to sell that to a FA who expects to be playing (and being paid accordingly) at a premier position. I don't think the Bucs will even have fleeting interest personally...

Author said he was beaten relentlessly in the slot. Sooooo why would he be different in another zone type scheme?

We have one proven NFL-starter quality player at a position that often sees 3 guys on the field at one time.  You might like Banks' upside but his primary competition is a bust, and we've got a bunch of JAGs competing at nickel

Yeah maybe they can be as good as the great kerry jenkins and cosey coleman.. then we would be superbowl champs again.

If that more than anything is why he sucked at K.C., I'd take a flyer on Flowers with a Mike Jenkins type of deal. You can never have enough good DBs and if he shows he can bounce back in a zone scheme, it could end up paying off. Not much downside either, if he doesn't make the final 53 we can just cut our losses clean.
