The refs let them play tbh. It was both ways. The last pi call though was obvious. It was more than just playing it out. The guy had his jersey holding him back for like 10 yards. Did you see how out stretched that was?
In saying that, was watching something else with a commentator stating they shouldn’t have a different rule set in the regular season and the playoffs. Players shouldn’t “just play it out.”
SMB interfered on his INT and the refs swallowed their whistles, it goes both ways. The flag on TJ had to be thrown. When the guy finally let go of his jersey, TJ fell to the ground from regaining the forward momentum lost when the guy was holding on for so long.
SMB’s grab was subtle. There was no arm extension and he didn’t pull the guy enough to make him fall or spin or anything. That’s called craft. The pull on Johnson was so obvious the referees would be answering questions from the league on how they missed it. The shirt was pulled out 2 feet behind him. The defender gave the refs no choice but to call it in a game where they clearly didn’t want to call thngs.
rewatch the 3rd down and goal, the last play for the packers. watch the referee behind rodgers. he sees the hold on shaq and he reaches for the flag. id be willing to bet had it been completed it comes back anyway. seems like they are holding the flag to see if the play will be either successful or affected by the penalty before they call it. much better system than in the saints games if this is the case
