With us signing Barth last night do you guys think he will be our new Kicker and with us having so much trouble finding a reliable Punter, move Murray to P? I remember reading somewhere last year that Murray use to Punt in college and was a pretty decent one.
The kicking part is the easy part to solve. Where it is complicated, is that Koenen is the HOLDER and IMHO, that’s where the rub is. They need to find a superior holder for extra points and field goals. Because both are so timing and placement related, I think that’s what keeps Koenen around. It can’t be because of his punting skills. Simple logic says that Glennon should be your guy but who knows?
Per Wiki:"After playing for Don Bosco Preparatory High School, Murray considered attending college in Dublin, but decided to play for Fordham, with whom he served as both punter and kicker. He appeared in 44 games in four-year career (2009-2012) at Fordham, finishing with 186 punts for 7,985 yards and 38 made field goals on 54 attempts. As a senior he was named a consensus first-team All-American kicker after connecting on 25-30 (83.3%) field goals, while punting 52 times for 2,392 yards."So his career punting average was 42.93 yards/puntAs a senior his average was 46 yards/punt
