    Gruden 23rd.

    24. Bruce Arians, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Arians was in the upper echelon of coaches during his time with Arizona, manufacturing a high-flying offense that revitalized Carson Palmer’s career for a short time. The team never took the next step, though, and topped out at an NFC Championship game appearance. Arians is now tasked with another reclamation project in the form of Jameis Winston down in Tampa. Arians has the pieces to recreate what he had in Arizona and brings a disciplinarian attitude that the Bucs probably need, but that doesn’t always sit well with players. Arians’ track record is better than any of the coaches around him on the list, but there are enough question marks here that he doesn’t rank higher.

He will be in more of an overseer role in Tampa, less involved in game time decisions. That may actually be a good thing for the Bucs and his health…

the President of Operations that the team has needed for quiet awhile – there needs someone other than the Glazers to hold the GM accountable —maybe Arians can serve that role.

This team was in need of a coach like Bruce. He brought a top DC with him that itself is something the men before him couldn’t do. Trim the fat and sign a vet come cuts this team is ready.

Mike Smith was considered a good DC and had success as a HC – even had a span of success w/ the Bucs so much that he interviewed for HC jobs and was given a raise/extension w/ the Bucs.

Is anyone surprised? Arians is way overrated in buc land.  He has 1 playoff win.  I feel like he had better pieces in Phoenix.

It will be short and brutal.

Speaking of playoff wins, hard to believe the last playoff win for this franchise was the 2002 season nearly 17 yrs ago.

Morgan is still sore about getting fired by the Bucs.  But that isn’t fair because the Bucs didn’t control the concessions company at RJ.

If I recall correctly was there a year the cardinals had the best record in the nfc but then lost Carson Palmer late in the season, and his backup went down too and they started a third string QB in the playoffs? And he had a very good Seattle team to contend with in his division. I’m not suggesting BA is a top 10 coach but 24 seems a bit low for a two time coach of the year to me.

    I love the low ball.

It gives this team a lot of wiggle room of improvement.  I have seen off season rankings put the Bucs offense 12th while the Bucs defense is 30th.  That is right they have ranked the Giants defensive talent higher than the Bucs which doesn’t make sense, but whatever.
