You can’t fix the current CB situation , Delaney , Cockrell are just not good enough , all Bucs CBs need safety help , including Davis and Dean . Dean is weak minded , he gets beat once and he never gets his confidence back , Davis is good but not a shutdown one side of the field good . add a aging DL who is hit or miss when it comes to getting to the QB , and you get yesterday’s mess . If The Bucs stay status quo with their CBs ,they will need to put 31 a week up

When it comes to CBs , it comes down to 3 things
      1. Coaching not good enough
      2. Players not listening to coaching
      3. Players not good enough

They are all in this year , come next year this team will look completely different , bunch of old guys and one year deals .

Back to the CBs , there are no changes that will make Delaney and Cockrell quality starters , and like I said , it’s not like SMB and Dean have been killing it .

There really isn’t much you can do , I would guess Desir starts next week if Dean is out .

QBs just pick are DBs apart , QBs are dropping 3 Steps and out with the ball , CBs are playing off , and pass rush isn’t getting there .

      Delaney

The Rams smelled blood for sure when young Delaney hit the field. The game was just too big for him at this stage in his career.

Looks a lot like how last year started. DBs getting torched and we have no answer on how to fix it. Pass rush was better last year around this time though.

Gonna be a long year unless they can figure it out and/or start getting Turnovers again and getting some pressure.

We could have fixed it but we didn’t.

      Per auman

Bucs defense and NFL rankings after three games: 26th in total defense, 27th in scoring defense, 31st in pass defense, 32nd in sack percentage, 29th on third down. 4th vs. run

Don’t get me wrong we have to improve on defense but should easily win most of our games by 2-3 touchdowns

Rams are one of the best teams in the league and we will likely see them again

Secondary was sub par last season and they’re banged up this season. Without a solid pass rush we will get destroyed. They need to bring in a CB or two before the trade window closes.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Bucs trade for another pass rusher…which is a portent of JPP’s shoulder…or the state of the pass rush. The secondaries issue is mainly they can’t figure out how to defend the quick hitters and screens on the outside.

Pass rush with 4 is weak right now.

Secondary will get torched regardless if Bowles doesn’t fix the scheme. All three teams have gone at the edges like rabid dogs and they do it over and over until the Bucs can defend it. This is a Bowles issue.

Arians said Dee Delaney might have played the best of the Bucs defensive backs, and Ross Cockrell close behind. Not happy with Dean missing the potential interception that was in his hands.

Bucs are in trouble if Delaney was the best yesterday

      In terms of our options:

Richard Sherman would cost the least in terms of cap hit and draft capital and would probably be the most likely route we go.

in terms of trading for a player, it would have to be from a team that is willing to call it quits on the season and i am not sure these options are realistic given their contracts

James Bradberry or Adoree Jackson – The Giants are 0-3 and could likely realize the season is over and trade one of these guys even in the weak NFC East.

William Jackson or Kendall Fuller – The Redskins are 1-2 and aren’t very good but unlikely they trade/sell as they probably feel they are still in the NFC east race

Shaq Griffin – The Jaguars are toast and can likely unload him but do we want the contract? Unlikley.

Stephon Gilmore – I can’t imagine Bill wants to help out Tom after that Superbowl triump getting shoved down his throat. Also – not sure of his injury status

Darius Slay – Another ridiculous contract but the Eagles could be sitting at 1-3 within 6 days.

i think we should go with Sherman as not of these other guys seem appealing to me from a contract/commitment standpoint

Hmmm, apparently, Licht is ok with the DBs. No word on any signings or even exploring the issue. However, Carolina was right on it. Interesting.

Carolina traded for a first round guy who was jettisoned after a year? yeah i dont know how much better that guy would be than Crockrell

Secondary will be fine. If Mac Jones lights us up, then we should worry

Defense will get it together. They are clearly sluggish to start the season

In 2020, we played the falcons twice giving up 27 points both times, got smoked by the Saints twice, gave up 27 to Chiefs, Rams, 31 to Chargers

The defense got hot at the right time. Right now, we need to shake the injury bug and hope nobody of significant gets hurt. JPP, AB need to get back and as it looks right now JPP will sit another week

The Bucs next four games – @NE, VS MIA (without Tua), @PHI, VS CHI. All four of these teams have inexperienced QBs in which should be “get right” formula for the defense and Bucs should be sitting at 6-1.

#Buccaneers QB Tom Brady reached out to Richard Sherman to check if he was in shape before Tampa Bay’s front office contacted the All-Pro cornerback. Brady and Sherman have a strong relationship off the field

Well one thing with Sherman: they throw those quick hitters on the outside, or those screens, and Sherm is big enough to sift through the blocking and smart enough to diagnose it quicker.

He is strong. That is his benefit for the Bucs. But covering deep shots?

      Toast.
