DeSantis clearly sees himself running in 2024, either as a replacement for Trump or as a VP. He is trying to be the Trumpiest of all candidates and part of that is the totally despicable and completely un-American practice of distributing vaccine to big donors. Swampy swamp swamp..

there are examples from Bradenton and other places, but this is the latest and ultra rich GOP enclave in the Keys known as “Ocean Reef”:

“In fact, the only people from Key Largo who gave to DeSantis’ political committee live in Ocean Reef. All 17 of them had given the governor contributions of $5,000 each through December 2020, according to the Florida Division of Elections.

But on Feb. 25, one resident of Ocean Reef, Bruce Rauner, the former Republican governor of Illinois and former chairman of the Chicago-based private equity firm, GTCR, increased his contribution and wrote a $250,000 check.

Since DeSantis started using the state’s vaccine initiative to steer special pop-up vaccinations to select communities, his political committee has raised $2.7 million in the month of February alone, more than any other month since he first ran for governor in 2018, records show.”

the idea that a political leader would use THE DISTRIBUTION a life saving vaccine to raise a war chest for office is not much different than Trump withholding military aid from Ukraine

      crazy and straight up immoral

He won’t be a “replacement” for Trump, because if that was the case DeSantis would make his own decisions. If DeSantis gets elected President, his only decision he’ll get to make is what to have for dinner. Trump will make all the major decisions.

How disingenuous of Karma. It appears a hospital determined the distribution of the vaccines…

The Keys Weekly Newspaper reported on Jan. 21 that Baptist Health South Florida had offered vaccines to senior Ocean Reef residents, in a story that focused on the frustration of other area seniors in trying to get shots.

A spokeswoman for Monroe County said that like all early vaccines, the doses received by Baptist Health were allocated to the hospital group by the state because it met the state’s criteria, and the hospital then decided how to distribute them.

I love that Republicans, during the home stretch of a pandemic, want to jump the gun and open things back up too soon.

Texans shouldn’t be allowed to leave their state if they want to be irresponsible… same with any state.

      disingenuous? Need a dictionary?

more importantly though . . read closely:

“there are examples from Bradenton and other places,”

In other words, Ocean Reef club was the example in the news that day. It may turn out to be coincidence. the pop ups (“Bradenton and other place”) are not

for clarity, this is Ocean Reef Club example (the timing):

“DeSantis himself is a resident of the gated enclave in the Florida Keys, as is Bruce Rauner, the former Republican governor of Illinois, who cut DeSantis a check for $250,000 last month, one week after he turned 65, the minimum age at the time for a vaccination in Florida.

Before Ocean Reef began vaccinating its residents, a political committee for DeSantis received 17 donations from Key Largo by December 2020, according to campaign-finance records reviewed by the Herald. All 17 are residents of Ocean Reef.

more to come on this story for sure because “Baptist Health” is the “hospital” that DeSantis says controlled the plan. Baptist health is a chain of several hospitals, INCLUDING TWO ACTUAL HOSPITALS FURTHER DOWN THE KEYS and in Miami-Dade . . so the question will be how did a tiny (but very wealthy ) community where DeSantis has a home get the vaccinations from Baptist health when obviously they vaccinate more of the 65+ population by going to either of their to actual hospitals in the Keys or Miami Dade?

THIS IS THE LARGER STORY THOUGH

““First we saw it in Sarasota County: $125,000 campaign donation, pop-up site,” she said. “We also saw it in Charlotte County: $50,000 campaign donation, pop-up site.”

A third site to vaccinate residents against Covid-19 popped up in Manatee County. All three of the selected communities were developed by Pat Neal, a Republican fundraiser who contributed $125,000 to DeSantis in 2018 and 2019.”

I’m proud to have DeSantis as governor of Florida. I am specifically proud of his efforts to clean up Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades. He has also committed funds to fight Red Tide, which no other Florida governor has done.

The brouhaha about cronyism for vaccines was brought about by Fried. It has been explained a number of times but people of your ilk and that of Fried’s are trying to stir up something where nothing exists.

The vaccines are prioritized to the elderly…no matter where they live. If they happen to live in an affluent area the state is not going to deny them the vaccines just because of optics. It’s that sample.

I’ll let you have the last word.

        “WHERE NOTHING EXIST?”

As I posted before (I think you ignored that one) its actually statistically impossible to say that in the case of Bradenton/Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch

again, I assume that’s why you keep skipping over it and now are, apparently calling it a “Dem hoax” of sorts

Sincerely, me and “my ilk” :-)

(PS when your defense of “vaccine cronyism” begins with other things DeSantis has done well with the everglades . . sort of a sign tat you know there’s an actual problem with “vaccine cornyism” not just Dems stirring the pot)

Its simply undeniable — mathematically or statistically speaking — that DeSantis INTENTIONALLY set up pop up sin at least two donor locations

all on has to do is look at the demographics in Bradenton, as one example

if you want to say Ocean Reef Club is just a coincidence — with 17 donors in Decembers and $250K from one GOP official — that is your prerogative and it may turn out to be correct.

May also be smoke, because the other examples are undeniably FIRE

Of the 15 pop-up clinics targeted to senior communities, nine were in Broward and Palm Beach counties, which are not known for being Republican strongholds, to say the least.

So what’s your view? Seniors who voted for DeSantis should not have access to the vaccines before a group you deem more needy? Should they have access to vaccines at all?

You’re stirring the pot, plain and simple.

Bwahaha. DeSantis caught in a lie

If you read the article you can see for yourself that he gave the classic “non denial denial”

He tried to create the impression that this was all the hospital, not the state or him. That argument is repeated here by a poster.

Ocean reef requested the vaccine. DeSantis didn’t open a pop up but the state gave the vaccine to the hospital TO GIVE TO OCEAN REEF

      Lmao

That’s why – as posted above – it didn’t go to the two larger hospitals down the road or Miami Dade

First, I’m so glad they ditched the Up / Down votes, as I feel like that never really contributed positively to any thread. Also, they brought the “Quote” option back.

Now, as far as the topic, I don’t trust DeSenseless for anything. He’s created a clusterfuck of a vaccination program that not even his own staff can provide answers. I know this because I tried a number of times, with people at different levels, and they were all clueless and acknowledged that they had no idea why some of the policies were being handled in such an obtuse method.

I decided not to fuck with the DeSenseless bullshit. I went to my doctor on Tuesday, and his staff filled out a form for me. I then drove to the FEMA site in Tampa, run, afaik, solely by Military and FEMA staff. I arrived at roughly 2PM, with no appointment. I presented my paper and my license when requested, and by 2:35PM, I had received my first Pfizer vaccine. I return for the second shot on March 30th.

No fuss, no muss, and no state or county officials as far as I could see. They have it running smoothly and with efficiency. I didn’t have to play appointment roulette, brine an official, or sleep with a Secretary. It was In / Vaccine Dose / Out, and that was as a walk-up in the middle of the day.

I’d rather have a beer bottle in front of me than a pre-frontal lobotomy.

I don’t say that I don’t care about corruption because I do. If he did something wrong then he should be punished but as a lifelong Floridian I cannot express just how well I think Desantis handled the covid crisis. The economy is booming, people have jobs, people have lives, thousands of people are alive today because they didn’t kill themselves out of the deep depression that arises from never ending covid lockdowns… and losing your job, having no money and feeling worthless.

I live in Florida and I know lots of people. People are getting vaccinated at an extraordinary rate. My 35 year old wife got it because she’s a teacher. It’s not hard to get vaccinated.

      So just a couple things

1 Reportedly DeSantid refused the sit down interview, that’s why it’s a clip from a press conference (not the norm for 60 minutes)

2 if you look online you can find the complete response from DeSantis. Ask yourself why does he say Walgreens & CVS had the vaccine first (with it saying that that was because of a federal program)?

      3. Public makes sense and that is his best defense. But he’s already been busted LYING about the Keys so that and the donations in December make it tough to believe. He’s reaping what he sowed, at very best.

      4. He previously defended the Public deal as a way to vaccinate rural areas. Now he says it was because of densely populated Palm
Beach (true or not it’s the shifting explanation again)

I wouldn’t doubt it. DeSenseless is the Poster Child for “Fucking Moron” if there ever was one. His only skill above Trump works be that he probably has more financial access from the Cartels.

if you look online you can find the complete response from DeSantis. Ask yourself why does he say Walgreens & CVS had the vaccine first (with it saying that that was because of a federal program)?

I don’t doubt you for one minute. That dude is corrupt as hell. I got my vaccinations through the FEMA site, which he cannot control. Considering I’ve never voted for a Republican in my entire life, for any office, I imagine that my place in HIS line would be sometime in 2022. 😎

(Once, I even contacted the mayoral candidate in Tarpon Springs to ask him what was his party affiliation since the ballot didn’t list it. The dude answered his own phone. I’ve been to a number of events with politicians in the past, and I’ve never met a single one that didn’t, at least, have a girl answering their phone for them. Even the lowest rung peeps on IMDb mostly still have agents.)

Public makes sense and that is his best defense. But he’s already been busted LYING about the Keys so that and the donations in December make it tough to believe. He’s reaping what he sowed, at very best.

True again. IMHO, DeSenseless has no defence, as he knows exactly what he’s doing. He can play stupid, like Trump; however, that method seems exclusive to Trump. Others who try it just end up pudding people off. (See “Gaetz” for reference points. 😎)

The guy is just flat-out crooked. He reminds me of the character of the mayor in Animal House. Airing what works you expect from a state that houses crime bosses in Witness Protection, and is the second retirement option for Mafia Bosses, just after Las Vegas.

I am not very familiar with Kermit, so I have no reference points from before he drank the kool-aid. 😎

      https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/05/media/60-minutes-gov-ron-desantis-publix/index.html

After the report aired, the Democratic director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management and Democratic county mayor of Palm Beach County both publicly responded, saying that partnering with Publix was not suggested by anyone from DeSantis’ office.

In a Sunday night tweet directed at “60 Minutes,” Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz wrote, “I said this before and I’ll say it again. [Publix] was recommended by [Florida Division of Emergency Management] and [Florida Department of Public Health]. Period! Full stop!”

“No one from the Governors office suggested Publix,” Moskowitz added. “It’s just absolute malarkey.”

Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner offered a similar sentiment in a Monday statement.

“I watched the 60 Minutes segment on Palm Beach County last night and feel compelled to issue this statement,” Kerner said.

Kerner accused “60 Minutes” of reporting “intentionally false” information, saying that the program knew DeSantis had met with him and that the county had been the entity to request “to expand the state’s partnership with Publix.” Publix also issued a statement to criticize the assertion, but the supermarket chain did not mention “60 Minutes” by name.

When you have CNN backing up De Santis, you know 60 minutes at the very least got it wrong.

Yeah I agree that 60 minutes could’ve gotten it wrong BUT the Palm Beach County mayor is only going to say that. Mozkowjtz is more compelling.

One other option. Like many things Trumpian they can both be true. Publix is an obvious choice because of statewide coverage and a pharmacy but that doesn’t mean there was not a deal … and that possibility is even more in play because of the way DeSantis has handheld the issue, which is to say lies and shifting stories.

Weird…. this sounds a lot like the rationale behind Trump must be a russian agent. lol

And to really hammer the point home with something everyone is 100 percent certain of what side you were on, this sounds a lot like the rationale behind Hunters laptop means Joe Biden was selling access to the white house.

      So weird.

Do everyone a favor and smash all your devices with a hammer so the rest of us can enjoy the cove without witnessing the daily spam fucking.

Publix isn’t the only provider of the vaccine. I doubt that matters, as the facts haven’t mattered at all to Mr. Cronkite and his shitty MSM brethren.

      Hmmmm,

While narrating the package, CBS’ Sharyn Alfonsi referenced comments from McKinlay, saying she told CBS that “the Governor never met with her about the Publix deal.” Immediately after citing McKinlay’s comments, the segment cut to Alfonsi questioning DeSantis, saying, “The criticism here is that is pay for play, Governor.”

McKinlay, however, clarified Monday she made no such claim. “I’m not getting into [the] pay to play argument,” McKinlay added on Twitter. “That wasn’t my concern.”

McKinlay added that she supported involving Publix in the distribution plan, but she simply wanted the state to ensure rural residents had easily accessible vaccination sites as well. Two weeks later, the state complied.

So, from this article, it seems her main problem was she wasn’t at the meeting with the mayor and other county representatives.

not about being at the meeting, its that the Publix plan wouldn’t help her rural constituents

      here it is

“McKinlay is standing by her concerns raised at the time, but emphasized Monday that her problem with the plan related to issues surrounding rural access to the vaccines — not a purported pay-to-play arrangement.

“I’ve lived in Florida long enough to know Publix is an institution. I remember getting my free cookies as a child and I even worked there as a teenager. They are a fabulous partner and I never objected to them playing a role in my county,” McKinlay said Monday.

“I had one point — the complete failure by the Governor to recognize that a decision to strictly utilize Publix would have a detrimental impact on Florida’s rural communities. These rural communities are my constituents. I advocate fiercely for them. Palm Beach County is not all mansions and beachfront. My district encompasses 70% of the land mass in this county and most of that is rural, agricultural communities. A decision to provide vaccines to Publix meant my constituents had a nearly 30-mile commute in one direction to reach a Publix and a 78-mile commute in the other.”

Yes, as posted before its possible that 60 minutes is wrong (although the people staying off the record raises eyebrows) and, in fact, was spurred by the comment that she now steps away from (“pay for play”) Obviously, DeSantis has a “pay for play” vapor trail.

interested to see it play out

DC Commie wrote: “Trump is a fucking narcissistic megalomaniac with knowledge limited to what other people tell him. If he were required to have an original thought, he would fail, as he can’t even write his own fucking autobiographies without a ghost writer.

I’m still hoping that ISIS flies a plane into Mar a Lago. 😂”

I’m shocked I tell you, just shocked a communist didn’t like Trump’s term in office.

By the way Publix had to cancel their free cookies with the likely excuse that it was due to Covid. But those in the know will tell you that Hillary wanted to make sure that kids can’t have cookies, so she told the deep state to make sure to give the orders to cancel the free cookies at Publix.

Btw, one does not have to be a communist to despise Trump lol. Almost 82 million people voted aaginst the guy (not for Biden) and some of his harshest critics are ACTUAL conservatives:

“Mr. Boehner writes that Mr. Trump’s “refusal to accept the result of the election not only cost Republicans the Senate but led to mob violence,” adding, “It was painful to watch.”

At another point, he writes, “I’ll admit I wasn’t prepared for what came after the election — Trump refusing to accept the results and stoking the flames of conspiracy that turned into violence in the seat of our democracy, the building over which I once presided.”

He adds: “Watching it was scary, and sad. It should have been a wake-up call for a return to Republican sanity.” Nodding to the divisions between the parties in Congress now, he writes, “Whatever they end up doing, or not doing, none of it will compare to one of the lowest points of American democracy that we lived through in January 2021.”
