DeSean Jackson expresses interest in playing for Rams
Charean Williams on January 30, 2019, 11:46 AM EST
PFT
DeSean Jackson recently said “we’ll see” when asked about a return to Tampa Bay.
New coach Bruce Arians wants to keep Jackson, but if things don’t work out with the Bucs, the receiver wouldn’t mind playing for the Rams.
“Worst-case scenario, if anything, I would like to end up in LA being a Ram,” Jackson told the Simms & Lefkoe show. “Sean McVay, you know we’ve got some connections from when I was in D.C. But we’ll see how it plays out. I’ve got another year in Tampa. We’ll see how it plays out.”
Jackson requested a trade out of Tampa last season. He remains under contract for 2019 with a $10 million salary, so the decision is the Bucs’, not his. But the team would get all that cap space back if they move on from Jackson. Please wait… -

Arians would figure out how to use him here. But yeah, we can’t have him back now, the hay is out of the barn.

They will cut a lot of salary in the offseason.
Suh and Fowler are possibilities. Snead is really into the one year rentals, win now plan.
And as long as Goff is cheap, they are ok.Please wait… -

Ship him to the Jets or Cardinals

What a tool. Hope they trade him.

Rams have Brandon Cooks.
Arizona, Green Bay and Oakland make more sense in my mind.

Suh and Fowler helped get the Rams to the dance.
If it is chance to keep those two, I doubt they would choose Jackson.
Especially with his rep nowadays.Please wait… -

Fowler is a free agent so it would take big bucks to keep him.
But he is still young so they may invest. I think Suh is a goner, old and overpaid. Please wait… -
Non-playoff teams are not going to want him now that he is crying about where he wants to be traded to. They don’t want him pissing and groaning when things don’t go well. What an ass.

The Rams top 4 WRs are all under contract for 2019. Cooks makes $15mil, Woods makes $6mil and Kupp and Reynolds are under rookie deals. There’s no need for Desean Jackson and his $10mil salary in LA nor his attitude.

He will be 33 at the end of this upcoming season, so he will enter free agency with not a lot left in the tank. I agree he wont be getting a mega deal when he hits FA.

they’re a smart organization who knows better not to bring this whiny diva cancerous ass to their team— he sounds like he’s entitled to play for them —-but the truth is, they don’t need him and probably don’t want his complaining over-the-hill ass.

Yea that’s what I took from that. Late in his career, he’s familiar with the head coach and it’s his hometown.

Trade him for anything.

His contract is toast if he ends up on the Rams. Or most anywhere else…

Well, he’s not LeBron, and he’s not in the position to select the teams he’ll be taking his talents to play for ……..at least while he’s under contract.

Another misstep by Licht if there were legitimate offers on the table for trade last season. Im taking literally anything at this point.

Top 6 teams with cap space
1.COLTS No
2.Jets Maybe
3.Bill No
4.Browns No
5.Raiders Maybe
6.Texans. MaybeThe only team that might actually trade for Djax would probably be the Texans , Will Fuller just can’t stay healthy. But I’ve seen some pretty stupid GM’s do some dumb stuff.

1 minute agoInteresting. DeSean Jackson was actually one of the players the Rams called for a reference on Sean McVay in January 2017. Jackson gave McVay a glowing recommendation.

That’s interesting. I kind of assumed with his current attitude that money wasn’t a very big factor at this point in his career. I don’t think he stands a chance of making as much as we owe him next season. You’d think if money were a factor he’d have played nice here and gotten along.

That’s true. They bring in high character guys like Aqib Talib, Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters, Dante Fowler, etc..

Yep, they know better than to bring Desean to their team. Only the crappy Bucs would be so stupid. Bucs fans being Bucs fans.

Jackson has been a diva, but he wasnt a diva earlier in the year when Fitz was hitting him in stride for TDs every week. It wasnt until later when he wasnt getting the ball that he was a diva. I want him gone but its still kind of crappy that we have to get rid of our deep threat because he cant get on the same page with his QB.

So you think the Rams will bring him onto their team? I think they want no part of him.

That could very well be true, but its not for character reasons. I know the guy a little bit, and he is nothing like some people portray him here.
The Rams are pretty set at WR, so that could be a legit reason they have no interest. Along with DeSeans 10mil salary in 2019, could be another reason. Please wait… -

Either they apply state income tax differently in each city or he is not aware both teams are in California.

They probably don’t even need him. But your point about the Rams being an organization that only acquires model, upstanding citizens to play for them is 100% wrong. Talib, Suh, Peters, Gurley, Fowler, all have been more problematic at 1 point or another than Djax has.

Didn’t say anything about model, upstanding citizens. NFL has few of them. Probably couldn’t run a league if that was a criteria. But your point is well taken.
