The model I have created assigns points to draft picks for games, games started and longevity with their drafted team. A draft pick is given points based on years of service with the team that drafted them. The amount of points is dependent upon which round they were selected. A high draft pick can be assigned negative points for flaming out early in their career, or for being a total bust. Late round draft picks can be given bonus points for being productive longer than average late rounders historically are. Draft picks also receive a small amount of bonus points for Pro Bowls.

Example: As of the 2019 season,
    Mike Evans – 239
    Kadeem Edward’s- (-5)

The entire 2014 Buccs draft class – 452

    Denver’s Matt Paradis – 221
    Tennessee’s Bishop Sankey – 36

Hold on. How do you get a negative rating? The lowest you can go is zero, either a player plays and earns points or doesn’t play and has a zero rating. Your methodology seems odd.

Why was your scope only 2014 and 2015? Why didn’t it include 2016 class? VH3 is no longer with the team and the rest of the draft picks’ contracts are 4-year contracts that ended this past season. We re-signed 4th rounder Ryan Smith.

You do know that Pro-football-reference has this metric on players called Approximate Value, and they do dock a player’s AV if they miss games. They don’t care how long you play for your team, though.
