If you’re suggesting it’s the United States… first of all, what the hell does “recognize natural immunity obtained from catching Covid” mean? Of course we do. We also recognize that it’s not durable or sterilizing immunity. We also immunize to save lives. I think other countries do the same. If you’re suggesting we should’ve allowed Covid to spread without control in order to get herd immunity, I expect you’d be willing to volunteer in hospitals and morgues to move all the extra dead bodies.
So what’s your point?

Simple answer: The US refuses to acknowledge acquired immunity from catching Covid calling them unvaccinated. No other country in the world does this. Again, I am not suggesting one should avoid being vaccinated if one has never had Covid. JMO but therapeutics should be the wave of the future and Fauci and the current administration are still dragging their feet on that choice being available. Covid isn’t going away no matter if vaccinated or naturally attained immunity from catching the virus. Early treatment should be at warp speed for availability.

So, we should call unvaccinated people vaccinated if they had Covid? No. Perhaps another category — something that indicates “has some level of immunity from the virus or the vaccine”… Is that even a useful statistic for tracking? We track vaccinated because public health experts agree that it’s best for all people to get the vaccine, even if they’ve been sick from Covid.
I don’t see how our categorization method means we don’t acknowledge acquired immunity from infection. We just don’t choose to mis-categorize it. Are you certain that other countries are mis-categorizing acquired immunity as vaccinated? Seems stupid if you ask me.

No one doubts that natural immunity develops (but isn’t durable either)… The problem is, in order to get there, if you’re suggesting skipping vaccines to do so, you’re piling up dead bodies along the way. That’s why we vaccinate. If you don’t care about the pile of bodies – approaching 900K in the U.S. – keep up with the nonsense.
Speaking of Johns Hopkins, they also recommend vaccines even for those who have had Covid.
