If you are lucky you will never have a child with cancer, but you should know that these a truly special children, the bravest of the brave, as are their families. As brave as they are though, they still need (and deserve) your help. Here in Tampa Bay, you can always help by donating time or treasure to a great organization, the Children’s Cancer Center (http://www.childrenscancercenter.org/). You can donate “treasure” by clicking on the link below, but you can donate your “time” today, right now, by taking just a couple seconds to:"Like" or "Share" them on Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/DailyCCCor "follow" them on Twitter: https://twitter.com/thedailycccThe exposure alone will help and someone might see your "Like" or "Share" or "follow" and help. Besides that, the kids (and their families) will greatly appreciate your support. So take the 10 seconds or less  to "Like" "Share" or "Follow" the Children's Cancer Center or if you want to donate, please do:https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=3IBBNy3NGN9Z4KkNoTfo8lxDf3oG2b0UMi4Wof96RxBotno8102OOSS9RmG&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8d5402c249c5a2cfd4a145d37ec05e9a5e

I thought this thread was going to be about this kid. Has anyone seen that story about the little girl getting thrown out of a KFC?  Her face is pretty F-uped from a pitbull attack. So the KFC manager asked her to leave because she was scaring the other customers.  It made the national news, so then a plastic surgeon offered his services for free, to help the poor kid out.

KFC gave the kid 30K.  So hopefully, they don't want it back if it was a hoax.

The Children’s Cancer Center (CCC) was founded in 1974 after Mac and Cecile Burnett lost their daughter, Helen, to Leukemia. At the University of South Florida, Dr. Janifer M. Judisch – one of only three hematology/oncology physicians in the state of Florida – and the Burnetts envisioned an organization to help alleviate the stress of coping with a child's life-threatening disease by providing educational, emotional and financial support. The philosophy of our original founders was that when a child is diagnosed, the entire family is really diagnosed. Therefore, our programs and services address the needs of all family members affected. When H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center opened its doors in 1986, the Children's Cancer Center  moved from USF to the pediatrics ward at Moffitt. The CCC became the support organization for all pediatric hematology/oncology patients and their families. When the pediatric program at Moffitt closed in 1995, the CCC Board of Directors voted to expand our services to all children receiving treatment for cancer or chronic blood disorders in the Tampa Bay area, regardless of treatment hospital. We then became a freestanding 501(c)3 support organization.Shortly after, we moved to our new stand-alone premises on West Cypress Street, where we regularly continue to improve and add to the building's look, feel and usability to best serve the needs of our families.IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT OUR CAUSE PLEASE DONATE HEREhttps://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=Ce3V_p2DflI2mHIVm01cW23p9nqAV-_lFRrOeMCBTqf6I5FaNBo4OuXEx9i&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8d5402c249c5a2cfd4a145d37ec05e9a5eOR:"Like" or "Share" them on Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/DailyCCCor "follow" them on Twitter: https://twitter.com/thedailyccc

I know a married couple whose son got diagnosed with cancer.  An only child too. At that time, they were living in a pretty nice home in a gated community.  And all the homes in there are worth close to 1mil each.  So anyway, after the diagnosis, they tried everything they could to save the kid.  Including flying to Switzerland to try out some experimental treatments. All out of their own pocket. And I can't say I blame them, I would probably do the same if I was in their situation and I could afford it.But anyway, the kid died, and their house got foreclosed on. And the parents live in a trailer park now, and drive a beater. All because of the big C.
