The Dolphins and assistant GM Brian Gaine have mutually agreed to part ways.Gaine had been with the Dolphins since the 2008 season but was rightfully unhappy that he was passed over for the team's general manager job last weekend. There were reports that the Dolphins felt Gaine was too closely connected to ex-GM Jeff Ireland. Many around the NFL believe Gaine has a bright future. Hiring GM Dennis Hickey over Gaine may prove to be yet another blunder by the Dolphins. Ex-Bucs GM Mark Dominik, Hickey's old boss, is reportedly in the mix to replace Gaine as Miami's assistant general manager.Source: Miami Herald Jan 29 - 2:16 PM
Not all that impressed with Quarles. VJ is about the only decent pro player brought in during his tenure.
Quarles had squat to do with Jackson. He job isn't to scout guys that everybody and their brother knows about, i.e. the big-name FA's. His job is to scout the Bobby Rainey's of the world.
Also, it appears Dominik had an official position to avoid just about all lower cost veteran free agents in favor of rookie free agents. I don't think Quarles was able to go after the Karlos Dansbys of the world.
“Licht does have a history with Bucs senior personnel advisor Scott Cohen. The two worked together in Philadelphia from 2003-2007, helping the Eagles to three NFC titles and a trip to Super Bowl XXXIX.” http://www.sportstalkflorida.comCohen then left Philly for the Jets where he was Asst. GM and went to 2 AFC Championship games.
