to tell me that Winston wouldn’t have shredded this poor excuse of an NFL team apart just as bad as Mariota did. That’s the problem with you Mariota nut huggers. You act as if Mariota is the 2nd coming of Marino and that the Bucs have this insanely beast defense! Winston played against a 3-4 scheme called by a FHoF DC and Mariota played against a Swiss cheese scheme called by a coach who’s more than likely on the hot seat after that piss poor outing. He stripped Frazier of calling duties for what? He sucked just as bad. Hell we have guys playing that every single one of you were scratching your head at just because they were signed! Conte and others anyone? You were also the same ones complaining that we got NO NONE ZILCH help on OL in the off-season or take a flyer on Collins with our 7th! Yet you want to act as if this loss falls completely on the shoulders of Winston. Mariota played great against this D, but so did McCown! If you want Mariota to be the Bucs QB, go play Madden. It’ll never happen in real life, so your best option is to just go be a Titans fan.

+1.While it was an impressive first game for Mariota and he definitely outplayed Winston, it's not like Mariota was making amazing throws throughout the game. The defense made it incredibly easy for him and I don't think a single one of his TD passes went in the air for more than 5 yards. You clowns making endless Mariota>Winston and we drafted the wrong QB threads are ridiculous. they've both played a single game in the NFL. Read a tweet saying Mariota had the highest QB rating for a rookie QB since the great RG3... I remember when people were claiming that he was better than Luck, look where that's at now.

Both of you obviously didn’t watch the game…Mariotta made amazing throws, was extremely deceptive, and ran when needed to.  His game management was impressive and kudos to the coaching staff for knowing his strengths/weaknesses and building the team around him. The Bucs tried to build a team around Winston...and we saw what happened.

Amazing throws? Bwahahaha! I’ve already said Mariota played great against THIS defense. BUT SO DID McCOWN. I guess we should have kept him around though.  :/GMC was thrown around like a rag doll in a humiliation porn video. You Mariota fans are a joke. A really really bad joke, about as bad as the Bucs were today.

Dam Lovie's so bad people start correlating HOF qb play with retired backups who haven't played in the last 3 years

Please provide some examples of these 'amazing' throws that Mariota had. Most of his completions were to wide open receivers or weren't thrown in the air over 5-10 yards.

Did not watch the game as it wasn't broadcast in my area, but from the highlights I'd say the TD to Harry Douglas for one. Fairly tight window, put it right in his receiver's hands. The first TD throw is actually a damn nice throw as well. Sure Wright was open, but ignore that and look at the throw. Wright barely has to pause as the ball hits him in the hands almost the same time he sets in the soft spot of the zone. Crazy quick release on that throw as well. The long throw to Delanie Walker (I think the play previous to the Wright TD, like I said only seen the highlights) was a nifty throw as well into a fairly small window. If Winston and Mariota's draft position was reversed, not sure we'd see the same results. Winston's throws just did not look as on target as Mariota's (was the same in the preseason honestly).

Yup, winston isn’t all that good.I bypassed ps as, well, ps. Figuring maybe they were playing the "playing it safe card" and not going full bore. But, no, they just sucked.I could have dealt with a loss, but a loss THIS bad? Thats asking a lot.

Winston is downtight awful, just as awful as many thought he would be. Just because Brooks is from FSU is no reason to think anyone else from there will be anything but a thug and a tak job. Use crab legs at practice…maybe he can put together an act for Sea World and catch them in his mouth. Watch…his NFL ‘career’ is done.

Flip the script and I agree, the Bucs still get pounded playing against Winston or any other QB. When you are :1. Not pressured  at all 2. Your first read is running uncovered on EVERY play, on the 4th TD the TE was standing in the end zone waiting for the ball uncovered. 3. Have a lead in the first quarter that is 21 points4. Able to run the ball at will against a team that is not tackling well5. Play a team who had no idea what you would run, no prep from the staff. If any  of you believe that if MM would have been in a Bucs uniform we would have either WON or kept it close you are crazy, he doesn't play defense.  Either QB would have been viewed at the wrong choice. If he does this all year long and THEN next year also.....then he is headed for Canton.

All you Winston nut huggers need to get your head out of the sand.  Mariota played a very good game, made great reads and some nice throws.  Love on Winston all you want, and Winston will still probably be the better QB when it’s all said and done, but to ignore what Mariota did just makes you look like the idiot.

Ignore Winston completely and the score is 28-0. Our D gave up 28 points! There’s plenty of blame to go around but Winston couldn’t have won that with our crap D. I doubt Tom Brady could have won it.

Just because I don't advertise publicly the discipline handed out doesn't mean it isn't addressed. But yeah, the all-cap thing is kind of a big deal. That is to differentiate a PR post versus a board member post.

It’s so confusing….I mean there only the a sub title that says “started by member x” under each title. Those caps are serious business. Just like all those mariota guys that got booted. These forums are taken very seriously! I mean guys like java area perfect example of this. Pr comes down hard on nonsense and makes sure it doesn't return. Should I have made my font blue or was it obvious enough.

If you saw the game, you’d know MM is better than Winston and it isnt close on any possible level.  The Titans came in as a horrible team too.  They had an equally embattled head coach and a putrid offense.  They made the right call on the QB, we didn't.  We will always be known as the franchise that traded away Steve Young, passed up Rogers, and now passed up MM to of all things take Winston.  Ouch.

Winston did a few good things. When he threw that block for Martin for example had me real pumped. It is way too early to say if he or Mariotta are hall of famers, busts or even better than each other. What we do know is that our defense was really, really sh*t yesterday. Again. And if anything looked worse than last year. And that is unacceptable.

Lots of peeps on lots of boards use caps.  I was wondering why it was an issue here….then it was just explained in this thread.  admittedly I failed to see that listed in the rules…..I may have missed it.  additionally……just as a suggestion….perhaps official PR thread titles could use a unique and official title font color.
