None of that matters, it could be legal in every state, but as long as the league has it against the rules, the players must abide.
They have begun talks on the new CBA for 2020, and one of things being discussed is extending the regular season to 18 games, in exchange for allowing weed use.

Lol, that is absurd… we will let you smoke this pot IF you play more games?

Players that don’t smoke are gonna love that.

Can the NFL please ban alcohol too so their stance is at least consistent?

Any NFL player that fails his yearly drug test for weed is an idiot

Marijuana isn’t just a recreational drug for some players. It’s used in some cases to treat injuries.

And plus from a league perspective, it’s impacting the product on the field via suspensions.

From the player’s point of view, individual players will always know that the NFL is a performance based job. There’s other guys competing for their roster spot and playing or practicing stoned can possibly put you on the streets.

Not a big change really. They would just turn 2 of the preseason games into regular season games. And have just 2 preseason games.

Two of the preseason games are played almost entirely by fringe players…

I just do not get the pot ban. If you can ball out and smoke pot, more power to you. If it makes you underperform, then don’t be a dumbass and quit it.

Alcohol is far worse and they don’t care… they don’t care about cigs or cigars… or a ton of prescription drugs…

It’s just a hypocritical stance to take but I get it… feds say it is illegal so they adhere to it.

What exactly does that have to do with legalized flower?

It’s only a matter of time before it becomes legal for recreational use nationwide.   But businesses will still have the right to test for it and refuse to employ applicants who test positive.
