The Buccaneers took to the practice fields at One Buc Place with 50 players trying to make an impression on the coaching staff in the first day of a three-day rookie mini-camp. What players caught the eyes of the PewterReport.com staff? Get the answers here.https://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=20&view=item&layout=item&id=9815

Edwards news doesnt sound very good. If he isnt looking very impressive against tryout players that is a concern.

really like what im hearing about Herron.  Have to say this article has been the most informative thing so far about today.  The insider video was crap honestly, they need to start doing a better job at covering more of the players, and leave out the redundant interview video that they had already posted.

They weren't in full pads and didn't really hit against each other. Too soon to panic. He didn't look bad or good. A little hard to tell without going against a defensive lineman in full pads.

Thanks man. While 99% of the media sit under the umbrellas on the patio, SR cracks the whip and we are constantly trying to move to get better vantage points. Appreciate you noticing  and applauding our efforts.

Sounds like Zuttah has been replaced by Jace Daniels as an all-round utility man on the O’line. I suspected he’d end up as our b/u C. He was a FA or tryout guy from last year who seems to have found an NFL home…    Herron seems to be off to a good start. Curious, with his speed, why he wasn't picked sooner; our good fortune!

I am really hoping we have a diamond in the rough in OL Matt Patchan.

That was the result of a really deep and talented WR class which caused a talented prospect to be sitting around at a spot where he shouldnt be. Yea good fortune pretty much. Whats cool is if you watch Brett Smiths game tape youll notice every now and then he throws to a certain receiver and that receiver is noticeably better than anyone on the field. It wasnt until last week where I noticed it was indeed Robert Herron.

Matt Patchan is an interesting UFA project.  Tall, sub 5.0 40, 33″ vert.  Shoulds like getting stronger and staying healthy are the keys GRADE5.2Matt Patchan (OT)HT: 6'6" WT: 302LBS.POSITION: OTSCHOOL: Boston CollegeARM LENGTH: 33"HANDS: 9 3/8"OverviewFather was an offensive tackle at Miami (1983-87) and was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 1988 draft. Matt was a USA Today All-American and highly regarded defensive end-left tackle out of Florida. Suffered soft tissue damage in May '08 when he was shot in the shoulder -- was a bystander at a park when a man shot into a crowd. In the fall, began his college career at the University of Florida, where he was recruited as a defensive lineman and played 11 games (one start), recording seven tackles, one tackle for loss and 1.5 sacks. Switched to offensive tackle in '09 -- played the first four games before suffering a torn right ACL (received a medical hardship, preserving a year of eligibility). Was sidelined in '10 after fracturing his right wrist during fall camp (had a second surgery in November). Played 12 games in '11, starting the final seven at right tackle -- did not play in the Gator Bowl against Ohio State (back). Tore a pectoral muscle during summer lifting and missed the '12 season. Transferred to BC to play for Steve Addazio, his position coach at UF, and was healthy enough to start all 13 games at left tackle for the Eagles.COMBINE STATS40 YARD DASH: 4.97 SECBENCH PRESS: 22 REPSVERTICAL JUMP: 33.5 INCHANALYSISStrengthsFires out of his stance. Effective with an angle. Good foot speed when asked to pull or get to the second level. Functional kick-slide. Flashes a strong punch. Aggressive and competitive. Has tools to work with. Gets walked back. Limited hip snap -- does not generate power. Hand use needs work. Inconsistent leverage. Bends at the waist. Balance issues. Inconsistent body control on the move -- struggles to connect and sustain. Has underachiever traits and thinks he?s better than he is. Will be a 24-year-old rookie.Draft ProjectionRounds 5-6Bottom LinePatchan's lone season at BC was the first of his career in which he was a healthy, full-time starter. He?s a tall, stiff, linear, zone blocker whose relatively short wingspan dictates a shift to guard, though he isn't ideally suited for the interior given his core strength deficiency and wobbly base. Must dedicate himself to the weight room and the practice field and tap into the raw ability that made him a highly sought after recruit in order to have longevity.

slow your roll.  Daniels is marginal nfl talent.  Zuttah is starter quality.

Me too.  Would be great if the Bucs could finally land that late-round pick that becomes a major contributor.

In addition, he's also "psychically imposing" just in case he can't beat opponents with his size. Hopefully he continues to use his powers for good since the world can only handle one Magneto.

Patchan should be a good candidate for the PS.  He’s a pretty good player.  His problem is staying on the friggin’ field.  Dude’s made of glass.

So, Herron shined yesterday and yet Lovie had this to say about him today..."He caught the ball better today than he did yesterday. I was a little concerned to say the least yesterday."

Based on the series of tweets from Stroud, it appears that the Herron difficulties in catching is a reference to fielding punts and not passes. Article on buccaneers.com spells it out specifically that it was punts that Smith made the comment regarding Herron.

Well that’s good because Herron isn’t going to be the kick returner anyways. Demps is.
