Tenn declined his fifth year option and now he’s in line to hit FA. With the Demar Dotson’s future in flux and Arians preferring veteran lineman to rookies could Jack Conklin be the guy to upgrade the RT position?

He’s likely to command a high price tag in FA so this is an opportunity to do some scouting today against the chiefs

Yes if you hear an offensive lineman mentioned its not good. I’ve heard Conklins name twice for penalties, including a critical holding as the Titans were threatening.

    1. Have to factor in why a very well run organization like Tennessee would not pick up his option.

    2. His market value will not match his performance. This is a hard no.

I dont disagree with you.  But 1.  With salaries out of control you can’t pay everyone. 2.  Does Dsmiths or Jensen’s market value match their performance?

We just need to start drafting OL early.

Remember LT Collins in 2014?  Or how about the highest paid center in 2018 with Jensen?

There’s a reason why the Titans didn’t want him for his fifth year guaranteed.

Yes. It’s been all downhill from there. Serious injuries have effected his performance greatly. Damaged goods right now that’s why the Titans declined the option.

There were plenty who racked up more.  Conklin was not even the most penalized OT on his own team.  Both of Tampa’s OL had more penalties.  Conklin’s seven penalties ranks him 30th among 59 qualified OT’s this season.

He’s a really good player.  The only blip on his resume is the injury-filled 2018 season.

Sign Conklin to a big contract but with a low base in his first year.   Draft Alabama tackle Jedrick Willis in the first round (he can be had at 14), and then in 2020, cut Donovan Smith loose.

Conklin played pretty well this season. I doubt the Titans let him walk. Here is to hoping though.

Did you even watch him play this year? Or are you just assuming. He recovered well from 2018 injury year and only had 6/7 penalties depending on which site you do your research on. I’d take Conklin over Dotson anyday. He’d make the Bucs OL better and boy do they need better.

How would these moves help with all the turnovers and missed field goals/extra points??
