Crazy to watch the SECOND impeachment go down because it forces GOP to choose Trump or country. A great example is West Virginia because
1) West Virginia had a state representative PARTICIPATE in the riot (now he has resigned and is being charged)
2) Half of WV’s Congressional delegation was against the objection that started all this BUT
3) the other half includes Super Trumper Alex Mooney and Mooney just objected to the House Resolution on the 25th SAm:
“House Republicans blocked quick consideration of a bill calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office amid fallout from last week’s Capitol riot.”
Democrats asked for consideration of a bill calling on Pence to mobilize the 25th Amendment, but Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.V., objected Monday.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she would bring the bill to the floor if the unanimous consent request was blocked.
The calls for Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment come from top Democrats in both chambers of Congress.”
THE GOP obviously doesn’t believe the “unity” bullshit because many of them voted to overturn the vote AFTER . . after . . the riot and then they just denied UC on the most obvious out (where Trump will never resign).
As many as 67% of polled Americans want him out and the depth of his depravity will just come more to light over time
If the Trumpers were all going to bail on Trump, they’d be doing it already. There is no reason to have to wait until January 20th. Trump can’t do anything between now and then. Jan 20 isn’t going to be the magic date when all this nonsense goes away unfortunately. This is why the impeachment process needs to continue. They need to ensure that Trump can never run for office again. That will mean 17 Republican Senators out of 50 will have to vote for impeachment. And that will be a tall order. It may be in Republicans best interests though, because if Trump runs again in 2024 it will only rally even more opposition not only to get out the vote for Dems but amongst the moderate Republicans and Republicans who want to win back the White House. Having Trump around keeps the Dems energized and not thinking about their own differences.
