It’s here! Football is back! I know the game isn’t until Sunday, but we wanted to start the game day thread early so everyone has a chance to let out their thoughts for the Bucs road game against the Saints to start the season. It’s only Week 1, but it still feels like a big game. You have the top two teams in the NFC South, Tom Brady vs. Drew Brees, and a ton of other matchups. It’s still up in the air if Mike Evans will play, but the Bucs have a loaded offense even if he can’t go. We’ll see how they look against a tough Saints’ defense in the debut of Brady and Rob Gronkowski. I’m intrigued to see how much the tight ends will be utilized in the game. For the Bucs’ defense, they essentially have everyone back, but rookie Antoine Winfield Jr. gets the start at safety in his first career game. What are some of the things that you are looking at for this game? Give us your prediction for the final score! Looking forward to a great season.
Yes, huge game! I’m ready for some Bucs football! My thoughts…
The 2nd time in 3 years the Bucs have to open on the road vs. the Saints. BS.
I’m looking for better pass rush pressure on Brees and tighter coverage in the secondary from the Bucs’ defense. The Saints will get their yards but will score less than the 30+ they put up twice last year vs the Bucs. The Bucs will run the ball more effectively than last season, but time of possession will be about even. Tight game, will be nerve wracking. Bucs 27 – Saints 24.
Its not easy starting against the saints but I like our talent that we have. First week having that talent will go a long way to possibly getting a win. Also if I’m not mistaken the Saints have been pretty bad to start season at home. No slam dunk but having brady makes me more confident than I normally would be. Cant believe he’s a buc lol! Stay healthy and the team could be pretty good. Excited to see how it plays out. Go bucs!
I really hope the game broadcast focuses on the game and not all the outside stuff. The first game and all the lead up shows are already pushing all of the social issues down our throat. Is 3 hours of people uniting to support their team away from all these issues too much to ask for! Geez.
I’ve got the Bucs losing today, but hope I’m wrong for the Bucs’ sake – and the fans. Having Mike Evans in the line-up today helps … I’m just concerned that he plays and re-injures it and is out 3-4 weeks. Smarter play would have been to rest it. We’ll see.
The Bucs started the game out hot, but the momentum completely swung in the other direction in the second quarter. Mental errors, miscommunications and poor pass blocking has really hurt the Bucs. And while the defense has been solid, the Saints have taken care of their aggressiveness by utilizing the screen game.
With that said, this one isn’t over yet. The Bucs get the ball at the start of the third quarter and have a chance to pick it up with a good opening drive.
So I am confused here. These coaches traded got Fournette and they could help him remember 5 plays in the playbook in a week time period? The play calling is horrible. I am feeling like Winston is the qb. Every play I am waiting on a interception. Gronk only one play setup for him. Evans is only thinking about fighting. If he is hurt get out of the game.
A learning experience but hopefully this is the worst it gets. And you know Bucs will have a lot of motivation when Saints come to Tampa. Actually wish they could play it next week. Here is where Brady’s leadership and demands for excellence will be unleashed on this team. If you’re offended easily, may not want to show up for practice this week.
0-1 IS a bAD AS IT GETS, BUT NOWHERE TO GO BUT UP…ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, I FEEL OKAY ABOUT BUCS PLAYOFF CHANCES STILL, BUT D. SMITH WAS THE WEAKEST LINK TODAY. OFFICIATING A CLOSE THIRD, SPECIAL TEAMS SECOND BY A LONGSHOT.
I watched the KC-Texans game, the Patriots-Dolphins game, and parts of the Bears-Lions, and Jax-Colts games. Those teams looked like they have been playing a month. On the other hand, the Bucs looked like it was a preseason game, with all of their miscues. That was very disappointing, and I would like to know why they did worse than those other teams.
