Wirfs and Winfield both filled glaring needs, and both fell to us…
Having said that, trading up one spot was worth it for Wirfs.
Winfield was pretty easy.
Nothing is easy for Licht tho… good for him on not botching these easy picks.
Wirfs was the easy pick as Licht traded up for Wirfs. The second round pick wasn’t so easy when reading the Red Board before the draft. Do you know how many people hated picking a safety (Delpit or AWJ)? The only person okay with safety on this board that I recall is @Nobody, he loved AWJ. Delpit and AWJ are the best coverage safeties in the 2020 draft.
There were many people that wanted a DE, RB, or WR over a safety.
Some of these posters are ridiculous saying the picks were layups lol… the Giants, Browns and Jets all passed on Wirfs and we could of easily said The heck with it Kinlaw is probably the safer pick… had Wirfs been a bust, guys like firelicht would of been bitching and moaning on how we traded up to only pass on the second coming of Arron Donald in Javon Kinlaw… get a fucking life dude… in the second round everyone passed on Chinn and as you can see he’s much higher than AWJ so how exactly were these picks handed on a platter to Licht?
2 of the top 7 is ridiculously good. Layups? Tell that to the Eagles who passed on Justin Jefferson for Jalen Raegor. You still have to make the pick.
Agreed. I’ve never been a fan of the “layup” pick argument. If you don’t wanna give a guy credit for making those picks, then you can’t bust his balls for screwing up picks. There was a “layup” in the 2019 draft at #5, but what happened?
