The Detroit Lions have been linked to Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins quite a bit over the last month or so. First, there was a report about how the Lions were “showing a ton of interest” in Watkins. Then, Watkins talked about what it would be like to play in the Lions offense, and he later dined with general manager Martin Mayhew and head coach Jim Caldwell before Clemson’s pro day. Following this, Mayhew and Caldwell talked quite openly about how impressive Watkins is as a football player. The Lions continued to show interest in Watkins on Tuesday by hosting him for a pre-draft visit, according to Dave Birkett. Birkett reports that Watkins got to meet both Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate during his visit, giving the Lions a chance to once again dream about the possibility of those three players lining up on the field together. So, why exactly are the Lions showing so much interest in a player who probably won't even be available for them unless they trade up? Well, as suggested by Birkett, the Lions are likely trying to find out if trading up for Watkins would truly be worth it.
So this isn't really a rumor..... its just you talking. I don't see a need for this thread other than attention. Could've been posted on one of the many other draft day threads.
So this isn't really a valuable post..... it's just you talking. I don't see a need for this post other than attention. Could've just not been posted all together. Lions with CJ and SW would be unstoppable. Scary.
Don’t you love when someone (a Fan like yourself) tells you what you should or shouldn’t post. It’s amazing how people just like you (a Fan) thinks they run the board. That is very funny.By the way GREAT POST...
They have the 10th pick but have meet with Clowney and spent significant time with Watkins.
since you need things spelled out for you apparently: Welcome to silly season, ladies and gentlemen. With the draft just three weeks away, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport has sifted through the white noise to bring us the following juicy morsels:» Let's start in Detroit, where the Lions loom as candidates to trade into the top five for one of the draft's top prospects, Rapoport said. One potential target? Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who staged a pre-draft visit with the team Tuesday. Vice chairman Bill Ford Jr. and Lions receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate were on hand to greet the young pass-catcher, who figures to be long gone if Detroit stays at No. 10. With the Lions also linked to Texas A&M's Mike Evans, this front office appears hell-bent on adding a top-flight receiver to the mix come May.However, Detroit also hosted pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney on Wednesday, a visit that makes little sense unless the Lions are preparing for a major move up.» We all know the Jaguars and Browns are game to pick a new quarterback, but who might surprise us? Rapoport named Tampa Bay as one team prepared to dial up a signal-caller at No. 7 after the Buccaneers spent the pre-draft process hosting a laundry list of top prospects at the position.Rapoport also cited Arizona as a candidate to pick an heir apparent to Carson Palmer at No. 20. That aligns with the latest mock draft from NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah, who projects the Cardinals to select Fresno State's Derek Carr. The latest edition of the "Around The League Podcast" covers the Aldon Smith arrest and analyzes the offseason movers and shakers in the NFC East and NFC South.
It doesn't make sense for them to move up imo.But if they trade up high, they'll most likely be selecting a qb.
What makes you say that? Watkins, Clowney, Matthews, Robinson, even Mack would all be ideal fits for Detroit.
Well, They don't have to move up too high to obtain a player that will help their team. Really, they can do that where they're at anyway. This draft is deep. So they'll have a good player regardless.IF they were to move up, because of the reasons above, they would select a qb. Cj is getting old and they may think MS needs to be replaced and someone else given a shot before megatron wears out.But I do admit, a watkins and cj wr duo sounds scarrrry.
