If the Bucs can pick up a future starting QB with even their 3rd round pick, they will greatly improve this team even faster. As much as I like Bridgewater, I can see them going for the elite positional players instead in the 1st round if they think they can snag a good QB prospect later on. If they are really high on this guy, they better snap him up before he is gone. That is the only problem with a strategy like that. If you pencil him in as your 5th rounder and then he is gone before then and you don't have any other QB rated high enough to draft.
This guy didnt do anything in college untill he transfered and played one year with June Jones. He was considered a top prospect out of high school though, and those guys get overdrafted even if they underwhelm in college. I bet he will be gone by the time our fourth rounder is up.
To me this is a guy that gets a shot because he has great size, arm strength and mobility…..so the fact that he is a horrible QB gets ignored. Hope we can get him as an UDFA and don’t waste a pick on him.
The late round QB gems of this draft imo are Mathews, Savage, and Wenning. Those guys have actually shown something worth taking a chance on. Gilbert just looks like a prototypical QB…he has never actually played like one. It’s actually kind of disturbing that we have shown interest in Gilbert, Shaw, and Brett Smith. Some really awful QB prospects.
