the thing that is impossible to reconcile is why MAGA types believe that these millionaire charlatans actual care about them

Its like watching some weird Joel O “church” service where everyone coughs over their last money for the week to Joel so he can get in his jet.

I think it was a bit thoughtless to be honest, but it’s nothing akin to flying to Cancun in a private jet while making a executive decision that everyone else has to not go to work but lock down. And then livestreaming the order from your Villa.

      >Good to see CNN have found their moral compass again though and are mortified about Cruz dropping his girls off in the middle of a snow storm though. Got to hold those politicians to account!

Or maybe I can differentiate between a thoughtless decision and rank hypocrisy. If you cannot then you will get what you deserve which is a Governor and/or President who really doesn’t give a shit what you think because he knows you will swallow any piece of crap he puts out there. Oh wait ….

Seen any Democrat politician caught with their pants down apologize for their good for thee but not for me doctrine? No. Didn’t think so. If you are good with that, fine with me, just don’t bother lecturing me about stuff like this.

“ Social media users have highlighted Cruz’s tweet from August 19, 2020 criticizing California’s energy policies. At the time, the state was dealing with the first rolling blackouts in 19 years.

“California is now unable to perform even basic functions of civilization, like having reliable electricity,” Cruz said.”

Here you go @Spartan, the specific hypocrisy I directly referenced

This past December, Cruz attacked Austin Mayor Steve Adler for going to Cabo, Mexico, during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Hypocrites. Complete and utter hypocrites. And don’t forget @MayorAdler who took a private jet with eight people to Cabo and WHILE IN CABO recorded a video telling Austinites to ‘stay home if you can…this is not the time to relax,’” tweeted Cruz in December.

the same event you were referring to earlier, right?

Maybe this part is not obvious, but Ted Cruz has always run as a POPULIST. He grabbed ahold of the Tea party approach and REGULARLY rails against ELITISTS. In fact, he famously ran an ad of Trump and Hilary together portraying them as out of touch ELITISTS

Trump MAGA types buy that bullshit from a guy who went to Harvard Law and who just flew first class to Cancun to stay at the Ritz . . while all of his constituents were at home freezing.

        He helped incite a riot

Let’s just say we differ on this. But even so, point out the hypocrisy of him flying to Cancun for 24 hrs.

He called out another politician for going to Cabo during a lockdown

Yes. That afore mentioned politician told everyone to stay at home then went on vacation. Show me again how that relates to this?

He mocked California during their wildfires

Rightly so. And going to Cancun for a day shows hypocrisy how?

Now he lied about “dropping off the kids”

This I somewhat agree with because when he was called out he realized his mistake and headed off home. But not from a hypocrisy perspective, it’s not like he closed all the restaurants down in his state then had a team meeting in a restaurant. So even so, where is the hypocrisy.

He threw his kids under the bus

        A bit overboard IMO.

But most of all… the symbolic nature of a career politician that “fights for the common man” decided to leave his state during a crisis to go to ANOTHER COUNTRY… how are you not seeing this as a reflection of his character + the other issues listed above?

I’m kinda yea and no on this one. I get your point, yet at the same time I don’t see it as a great fubar. BUT, I do see how his opponents can make hay with it. I don’t think that I personally would have taken the track of hypocrisy because IMO I see no hypocrisy, but I do understand the criticism of the optics.

      LMAO

“Cruz has attacked public officials for vacationing or golfing during times of crisis and argued that [vacationing] showed those officials were not paying attention.”

Cruz said in 2017 then-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie “should go back to the beach,” referencing the outrage surrounding the governor’s trip to a closed state beach with his family while the state’s government was shut down.

Cruz was responding to criticism and charges of hypocrisy from Christie after his request for federal aid for Texas in response to Hurricane Harvey. Cruz had opposed an aid package in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which largely affected the northeast.

In a speech in 2015, Cruz said “if the only terrorists attacked a golf course, that might actually get the White House’s attention. Holy cow, this is serious!”

In 2014, Cruz attacked then-President Barack Obama for attending a fundraiser during a crisis at the border in Texas and said the President spent too much time on the golf course.

“I think the President should actually stand up and do his job as commander-in-chief, should spend less time on the golf course and more time doing the job to which he was elected,” Cruz told reporters in Iowa in August 2014, when asked about the President vacationing in Martha’s Vineyard.

A month earlier, during an appearance on Fox News in July, Cruz called Obama an “absentee president,” who was “not focused on the people who are hurting.”

“He’s going to two major fundraisers where he wants to be with wealthy Democratic donors, but apparently, he doesn’t have time to actually go and see the border, he doesn’t have time to see the children who are suffering because of his failed policies,” Cruz said. “Earlier, he was playing pool. Apparently playing a game of pool is a higher priority for this President than it would be to go and see the humanitarian crisis he’s created.

Spartan is just being a douche because he’s getting some grief over his support of Trump, Cruz, etc. :-)

You’d have to be a complete dope (or trolling) to take the prior post about Biden’s recent position on MIN WAGE and COLEGE TUITION and turn it into what Spartan said, as easily pointed out by FIRE right below Spartan’s post:

        “Negotiations?

        Compromise?

Cmon Spartan, you’re better than this”

        Fire is wrong about that last line tho . . . lol . . . (I kid, I kid)

If you live in THE REAL WORLD, not some alt-right cocoon, Biden said that the $15 min wage, which he believes in as a gradual process anyway, would not survive the Senate process of RECONCILIATION so he has signaled that he would abandon it to pass CV19 relief

On student loans, he is for the same thing that I have posted here a million times, the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD approach, which is to consider relief for the debt of low income people who were effectively swindled by FOR PROFIT schools, not the plan he rejected which was $50,000 forgiveness for essentially anyone.

THIS TOPIC IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF WHY THE CONVERSATIONS HERE ARE MOSTLY USELESS. People like Spartan Jbear etc (THE TRUMP SUPPORTERS) are either:

        1) just trolling because they have a sandy vag after Trump got owned by “Sleepy Joe OR

        2) are so deep in an alt-right cocoon that they’re ignorant of the reality.

I have said #1 many times, dishonest (for amusement) not ignorant

The simple truth is that Biden has a 40+ year history of being a deal making middle of the roader. People like Jbear needed to rationalize their 2020 Trump vote though, so they said (during the election) “Biden is under the control of socialist’s AOC” etc. That was so obviously dumb on its face at the time that it blows up DAILY now.

Ted Cruz is more under the control of AOC then Biden. Crus left Texas while AOC raised $2 million plus for Texas and now she’s organized and even bigger effort to help with water etc. In other words, people like Cruz, Trump, Paul, Jbear, Sartan, Chron etc ARE THE REAL REASON for the elevation of someone like AOC. Their policy positions and actions are so absurdly one sided/racist/corporate/classist that someone like AOC gets a big following as rejection of the THAT VIEW. Every time their side does something STUPID (which is often because many of the the policies are inherently bad (see GA blocking Sunday voting) it just give her and the far left more fuel.

Maybe all you looney-hyper political types need to leave the country to the middle :-). Or go to island with the left and all fight it out to the death lol

One of the good things about Trump is that he campaigned on x, y and z and implemented, or at least tried to implement x, y and z. Like the wall to use your example, he at least tried and got SOME of it done.

It looks like Joe campaigned on A, B and C, but now he’s saying, nah not really, and that is good for the country? Well, actually it might well be, but if you can’t believe him on this, what can you believe him on?

Personally, I don’t give a sh*t because I did not vote for him. But you did, presumably because of what he said he was going to do while President. But now we know he is not going to do half the stuff he said he was going to.

You can disagree with AOC’s leftist policies… even some of which I do.

But she is a good person. If we had more politicians like her in all forms of ideologies, then we’d have far better representation.

She is an absolute stud and I guarantee will be president one day. She’s just too good at the game.

So this is a perfect thing she did. She created tangible impact. She voiced a message of unity. And yeah, she gonna cash in from this… people will remember this and the optics are amazing.

She knows how to market… and she absolutely drives the right bonkers. She has them right in her pocket.

I’ve always been a big fan of her in the same way as Amash. I’m left of Amash, and right of AOC. But they are both what you want to see in politicians.

I also think she is full of her own self importance, but as I have said in the past, the great thing about opinions is we all have one. What’s more, opinions can change. She appears to be doing a good thing now and I appreciate that. But she is after all a politician, and ALL politicians make a career of speaking out of both sides of their mouths. @Spartna

“I will point out it took 24 hrs for you to substantiate your original post. And I am pretty confident if you knew this at the time, you would have responded with it immediately to my first questioning of the hypocrisy tag.”

you might need to get over yourself.

I am not wasting my time trying to respond to your nonsense. I am just posting when I come across a comment of interest

You could have found any of those quote yourself, sport. That’s my flipping point. You dont because it doesn’t show up in the cocoon and your first take meshes with your world view, so why try to find the truth, test your own beliefs etc.

Its not like you’re on a search for the truth

Beg your pardon but it’s not my job to make your point. If YOU make the accusation that someone is being a hypocrite, then it is up to YOU to demonstrate the point is valid.

I could throw out here that Eiffel, sorry, my bad, Karma, is a sexist, racist pig, but then the onus would then be on ME to substantiate that point. I would not expect You to figure out why I came to that conclusion.

      This is straight mental illness:

“One of the good things about Trump is that he campaigned on x, y and z and implemented, or at least tried to implement x, y and z.

Me, I prefer the guy who tried to do what he campaigned on.”

YOU LITERALLY HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING OF US GOVERNMENT but youre also complete looney tunes because you’re raising an example of a Trump LIE to actually day about Biden “if you can’t believe him on this, what can you believe him on?”

      ROFLMAO

Youre actually saying that Biden didnt live up to your fictional version of him, so he cant be trusted?

Trump campaigned on a lot of populist bullshit. You actually raise “the wall” as an example BUT HE SAID MEXICO WOULD PAY to make a bunch of you numb nutz dance. He fucking actually lied to you to get your vote and yet you credit him for trying to build the wall?

      WTF??????????????????????????????????????????

      MENTAL

      ILLNESS

People keep saying “But Trump did these good things.” What did he do exactly? What good things did he do? Conservative judges? Building a wall? Tax breaks for the rich? I’m listening.

      This right here…

And why Joe Walsh has my respect, despite very different political views.

“ I could throw out here that Eiffel, sorry, my bad, Karma, is a sexist, racist pig, but then the onus would then be on ME to substantiate that point.”

That would ring hollow based on my prior post

If I posted “Spartan is a looney tune…..?”

      :-)

My point was I am not paying much attention or effort to your objections because you’re mostly disconnected from reality and obsessed with conspiracy theories. Nearly the entire world condemned Cruz for his hypocrisy and even he said it was a mistake and, if I recall, you were wanting to narrowly qualify hypocrisy to his words about Cancun that week lol

If your mind wasn’t so bent right, alt right, you maybe go look at the many reason people said he was a hypocrite. That would require you to visit a few real new sites tho ….

And what conspiracy theories would these be?

Disagreeing with you isn’t a conspiracy, it’s called having a different viewpoint. I could point to a few that you have quoted, but I don’t see it as worthwhile.

I am not going to relitigate this whole thread again but the long and short of it is you made an assertion and when I asked why, you couldn’t back it up. At least not initially. You did eventually come up with some points which I hadn’t recalled/knew about and I accepted them.

Sorry if you are offended by being challenged.

To Joe Walsh’s point, AOC has acted like a PUBLIC SERVANT

These politicians seemed to have forgotten that that is their job

      Total bullshit lol

“ you made an assertion and when I asked why, you couldn’t back it up”

      KP “water is wet”

      Spartan “it’s not”

KP …. uh …. okay (moves on)

Spartan “you didn’t back it up”

      ROFLMAO

Spartan, Crux’s actions are so hilariously hypocritical he’s been getting blasted in the media and social media with example after example. I actually posted some of them because they are so funny.

What is happening to Cruz is the downside to being gage and being a demagogue

It’s not my fault that you don’t see all those things from within your bunker And it’s certainly not my obligation to inform you

Right, Cruz has already move on to trying to right a wrong while Spartan complains about speed of response.

Texans Will Pay for Decades as Crisis Tacks Billions Onto Bills

“for profit” utilities caused the problem, but expect consumers to pay because . . well . . shareholders, banks etc.
